Back in December 2010, Sony Ericsson registered the ‘Xperia duo’ trademark in Europe. At the time it was thought that the Xperia duo would be the company’s first dual-core smartphone. Obviously that never came to fruition and we thought the Xperia duo name might be consigned to the waste paper bin.
Fast forward to today and Sony Mobile has just registered the same trademark with the United States Patent Trademark Office. This strongly suggests that an upcoming Xperia phone will be called the Xperia duo and it will be a global phone.
