Xperia P TaiwanSony Mobile Communications (SMC) says it is aiming for a 30 percent Android market share in the Taiwanese market in the second quarter of 2012. Jonathan Lin, president of SMC Taiwan made the comments at an event to launch the Xperia P in the country. It is launching the handset with Taiwan Mobile and also plans to release the Xperia U and Xperia sola during this quarter.

Lin said that Sony has a higher brand image than that of Sony Ericsson and therefore expects sales to be boosted as a result. To keep the momentum going, Lin stated that Sony plans to launch 1 to 2 new Xperia models in Taiwan each quarter. This means we should expect to see a similar number of new Xperia launches globally too.
