The low-end Sony ST21i smartphone, codenamed Tapioca’ hasn’t even been officially announced, yet that hasn’t stopped Mobile-Review publishing a comprehensive preview of the device. We’re not sure exactly which regions Sony will release the ST21i Tapioca, especially as specs-wise the handset is inferior to the 2011 Xperia mini family.

Mobile-Review found that, overall, the Sony ST21i leaves a better impression than the Xperia U. The handset will come with around 3GB of on-board storage as well as a microSD card slot. In terms of performance, they found that the handset ran Android 4.0 ICS acceptably despite running two-year old hardware. Just don’t go expecting a smooth performance playing the latest games such as Angry Birds Space.

The Sony ST21i will have a 3.2-inch (320 x 480) display, Qualcomm MSM7227 800MHz processor with Adreno 200 GPU, 512MB RAM, 3MP camera with no LED flash shooting video at VGA resolution (640 x 480). It will come with a 1450mAh battery and will launch with Android 4.0 ICS. Click here for the full Sony ST21i preview.
