for what! last year in xperia 2011 they all running with same application processor MSM8255

then why this year go back to MSM7227 that doesn’t make any sense at all

Considering the specs this looks like it could be the Galaxy Y/Galaxy Gio competitor, priced far below the Xperia U. For €99-€129 this actually doesn’t look like too bad a phone. Decent design, enough RAM, ICS (a first amongst cheap phones), … 

Not everything has to be a successor to something, but if you must, this probably replaces the (horribly failed) Mix Walkman/TXT Pro and fills the gap that the X8 has filled for a while and is now being dominated by the Gio and Mini.

 Ideal as a childrens/teenagers phone perhaps. Not great specs but has ICS and is modern enough for parents who dont have much money to buy their kids…

An X8 successor! Given the same specs of the camera.

:OThis CAN’T be the ‘successor’ to the Mini, the specs are lower! Plus, it looks ugly – so if the Tapioca DS is the replacement for the Mini Pro, I don’t know how that screen will work on a hinge.

This is sad news, I do hope we get a true successor to the Mini and Mini Pro. I want my SONY Mini Pro.

I’d rather go for the SE Mini/Mini Pro than this, even if it is SE and outdated. This seriously can’t be the successor, why have lower specs?

Such a shame then. They should have done a U with a keyboard then as I will not be buying the DS version of this (if it is the keyboard version with the same specs), I refuse to buy a ‘successor’ with lower specs. Don’t know what Sony were thinking, i’ll have to look elsewhere now, maybe a Blackberry *sigh*.

This is one ugly mobile phone right here from Sony, company with some good ideas of designing very attractive devices. This is an entry level, we all get this bit, but it is also the weakest excuse one would think of. There is just nothing to it. Absolute disaster on all fronts. Even ICS idea seems inappropriate for this kind of phone as everything else about it is well outdated

There was a thing called the Xperia X8. This is probably its successor. I picture this as the cheapest in the range, for people who are really cash-strapped.

And people still complaining about ICS not coming to older phones and once again I say, Sony is the only company which updated its ENTIRE 2011 library with ICS, not just its flagships. Get over it, stop being so self-entitled.

Guys it’s jest an Entry Level. Don’t compare it with Xperia S. Also consider that it will launch on ICS.

it has low contrast son it’s impossible to have whitemagic and my guess of the ppi is 175-200.

This phone will get floating touch as the design is like the sola. What im pissed is, Sony, you say instability for 2011 Xs in ICS, BUT WHAT IS THIS. A ARM11 vs a Cortex-A8 scorpion, how can you do this to your loyal SE customers?! If this goes on, i will see you go down in 2013 if you dont change the attitude to your old customers. We can never believe Sony’s words again.

And who the hell said this phone is the successor of the xperia mini / mini pro? My xperia mini (which is btw getting an ICS update early June) is seriously way better than this handset. You can look up and compare the specs if you want, at gsmarena.com

The only pro would be the floating touch feature, what makes it of course ridiculous to consider this phone the succesor of the 2011 xperia mini flagship
