Following on from the Sony Xperia ion launch party that we reported on earlier today, Sony has now confirmed the United States release details. The Xperia ion (LT28at) will land exclusively on AT&T on 24 June for an upfront cost of $99.99 along with a two-year contract.
The two-year wireless agreement requires both a voice (min $39.99/mo) and data plan ($20/mo). Seems pretty steep to us when you consider the lifetime contract cost. The handset will be compatible with AT&T’s 4G LTE network.
As many of you already know, the Sony Xperia ion has a 4.55-inch (720 x 1280) display and comes with a 1.5Ghz dual-core S3 Snapdragon chipset (MSM8260), 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot. Other features include a 12.1MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, HDMI, NFC and a 1900mAh battery.
