Sony Mobile has announced the Xperia VL (SOL21) for Japan’s KDDI network. The Xperia VL is, as you’ve probably guessed, a Japanese variant of the water & dust-resistant Xperia V (LT25i) which is due to launch internationally later this year. It is in fact identical to NTT DoCoMo’s version (Xperia AX) from what we can tell, apart from adding CDMA support.
The Xperia VL will come with the same Japanese-specific features as the Xperia AX including 1-Seg TV tuner, infra-red and mobile wallet. Interestingly, the device is due to launch in early November on KDDI, giving us hope that the Xperia V (LT25i) will also launch during a similar time-frame. Previous reports suggested an early December release for the Xperia V in Europe. See some promo videos for the Xperia VL below.
Features include a 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8960 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 4.3-inch (720 x 1280) display, 13MP camera, VGA front camera, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, MHL, 1700mAh battery and microSD memory card support. The Xperia VL will have dimensions of 129 x 65 x 10.8mm and will weigh 120g. The phone will be available in four colours (black, pink, turquoise and white).
