If there was any doubt that Sony Mobile was planning to launch a new flagship smartphone at IFA in Berlin on 4 September (and there shouldn’t be), then check out a press invite for the supposed Malaysian launch event below. The first sentence of the invite pretty much gives it away: “Come September, Sony is bringing you its renowned ingenuity in one exciting offering”.
That’s that then, we like the use of the word ‘one’ above too, especially given the handsets rumoured working model number ‘i1’. The invite tells media to save the dates of 4th to 6th September, tying into the IFA press event in a few weeks’ time.
BusinessWeek also recently confirmed that Sony will introduce a new flagship smartphone at IFA “featuring imaging technology developed for its cameras and ultra-high definition TVs according to two people familiar with the matter.” Not that we doubted a flagship reveal at IFA, but all of the above makes Honami’s IFA appearance pretty certain.
