The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware update is now rolling out to a number of Xperia Z series devices including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZQ (Brazilian version of the ZL), Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z. Overall, it sounds like a great update with some nice new additions detailed below. The Android 4.3 firmware relates to build version 10.4.B.0.569.
Apart from the native Android 4.3 additions including Project Butter performance enhancements, the big update for these handsets includes access to Sony’s Smart Social Camera previously seen on the Xperia Z1 and recently added to the Xperia Z Ultra. This will give users access to “Xperia camera apps” directly from within the viewfinder.
Sony has also launched ‘Xperia Themes’ on these handsets too, giving people access to unique and downloadable UI packs from Sony Select. Other additions include an updated version of STAMINA mode, giving more options to prolong your battery life.
Sony’s native app portfolio including Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID and Sony Select have also been tweaked with further performance enhancements. Lastly, the Xperia Tablet Z now has “Restricted Profiles” allowing users to create separate profiles with individual local storage, home screens, widgets and settings.
