Xperia Z1 Compact appears on SUS and PTCRB website; launch looks on track

Sony is due to launch the Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503) towards the end of this month. Thankfully it looks like there won’t be any delays as the first firmware for the device has been certified on the PTCRB website with build number 14.2.A.1.114.

We recently saw a new Android 4.3 firmware build (14.2.A.1.124) for the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra. At this stage it is unclear whether the ‘124’ build will launch for the handset or be available as an update after release. The handset has also appeared on the Sony Update Service (SUS), highlighting it’s ready for consumers to update or repair firmware.
