The Sony Xperia Z1 is set to launch next week in Europe and prospective owners will be glad to hear that the handset has already been rooted. Users in China have been successful in rooting the Xperia Z1 (L39h) with a tool called 360-Root (an alternative tool that can be used is VRoot).
Rooting the handset appears to be quite simple and involves opening 360-Root, make sure USB-Debugging is turned on in the handset, click the green ‘Root’ button in the bottom-right corner to start rooting. Once it is finished, you will see a ‘Congratulations, rooting was successful‘ message. For root permissions click the green button in the bottom right again, then the top left ‘Root’ graphic will turn from orange to blue denoting that you are now rooted. Hopefully, we’ll see an English exploit appear soon, but in the meantime this should do the trick just fine.
