We confirmed with Sony’s UK PR team earlier today that the Xperia Z2 will not see a delay. The handset will arrive as expected in early April 2014. See the statement below:
“We’re seeing particularly strong demand for Xperia Z2 across all of our distribution channels. As with all of our product launches, global rollout is phased across markets and channels. Consumers will be able to get Xperia Z2 in the UK starting from April.”
However, that doesn’t tell the full story. The removal of Xperia Z2 pre-orders due to “strong demand” is very likely but it also highlights the limited stock Sony will have at launch. This is also probably the reason why the Hong Kong launch was put back.
Let’s make this simple, removing the Xperia Z2 for pre-order is not good news for Sony whichever way you look at it. Sony needs to strike while the iron is hot and sell as many Xperia Z2’s as it can in its fight against the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Sony Mobile France says the Xperia Z2 is a “victim of its own success”. There’s no denying that the Xperia Z2 is probably one of the most sought after Xperia handsets in years, let’s just hope that it can ramp up production to meet the strong demand.
@reyaskcin Due to current stock levels, the Estore are currently not taking any more pre-orders at this moment in time.

Le Xperia Z2 est victime de son succès : les précommandes sont temporairement en pause. On vous tient au courant, merci pour cet accueil !
