Sony’s “Smart Connect” application has just received an update with the main changelog being “Adaptations for Android 5.0“. Now we don’t know what this means exactly, the UI is the same, so it’s likely to mean changes to the back-end, getting ready for Android Lollipop. This does highlight that we could start to see the update as soon as we hit 2015.
Sony Mobile’s Twitter account re-confirmed that the Xperia Z2 and Z3 series will be upgraded to Lollipop at the “beginning of 2015”, so hopefully all is on track. We have already seen Lollipop firmware builds being tested so it is probably a matter of weeks now. We’ll keep you posted.
