Taiwanese site ePrice has weighed in on rumours for the Xperia Z4, which is expected to be announced in early march at the MWC tradeshow. They speculate that Sony is planning on releasing two variants of the device – one which will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD resolution display to be released in selected markets such as Europe and Asia. The second variant will sport a Quad HD resolution display (2560 x 1440 pixels), but will only launch in the United States.
Other rumours include the Xperia Z4 supporting an exposed water-resistant micro USB port – no more flap covers, which will be great news if true. Sony already has an exposed 3.5mm headphone jack, so doing the same for the USB port is a natural extension. ePrice also claims that Sony will do away with the magnetic charging pins, however they don’t mention whether this means Sony will include wireless charging in the Xperia Z4.
In terms of design, the report says that the Xperia Z4 will adopt a glossy metal finish and that a blue variant will also be produced. The front-facing camera is also expected to be improved. Obviously there is still a long time before Sony officially unveils the handset, plenty of time for more substantive rumours before release.
