Kaz-Hirai-Exec-WelcomeSony Mobile had a low-key event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. There was no proper keynote and no livestream for the fans. Instead, Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai, Sony Mobile President Hiroki Totoki and SVP of Sales & Marketing Dennis van Schie took to the stage to welcome the assembled media to Sony Mobile’s MWC stand. If you are intrigued to hear what they had to stay, then check out the 19-minute ‘Executive Welcome’ video below.

Kaz’s opening remarks certainly seems to reiterate that mobile will be a core part of Sony going forward:

“Mobile remains an important part of the Sony Group. And the reason for that is quite simple. Smartphones, tablets, SmartWear and mobile services are firmly rooted in our daily lives. They’re often the last thing we see before bed and the first when we see when we wake up. Sony has always been about doing what has never been done before. And the next phase of Sony Mobile is all about carrying that spirit forward, and making sure to entertain and ‘wow’ our customers around the world.”
