Sony Mobile has released a new firmware update for the Experimental track of the Xperia X Concept with build number 38.3.A.0.83. The big new feature in this build is the introduction of “Battery Saver”. Sony fans have been asking for the STAMINA mode found in original Xperia firmware, which was replaced by the introduction of Doze mode found natively in Android Marshmallow. Sony’s new Battery Saver feature tries to go some way to bring back some of the customisability of STAMINA mode.

Battery Saver gives you several options to extend your battery life when your phone gets below a certain percentage (you can choose any level below 50%). You can turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, auto-sync and adjust brightness/screen timeout. The option can be found in Settings > Battery > Battery Saver.

On the camera side, Sony has added new camera quick settings and camera app shortcuts, which now allows you to quickly take a video or selfie picture. VoLTE support has been widened for Spain (Vodafone) and UK (EE/Three), which will be welcome by many, given how large these carriers are in their respective countries.
