Sony Mobile has begun to roll the Android 8.0.0 Oreo firmware update for the Xperia XZ Premium. It’s great to see the update to unexpectedly arrive so quickly, especially as just last week we thought we might be waiting until December. The update is available as a 1.3GB OTA firmware update, in the form of build number 47.1.A.3.254.

The update brings the software for the Xperia XZ Premium in line with the Xperia XZ1. Some of the new camera features include the 3D Creator app, Predictive Capture (smile) and Autofocus burst.

A really big ‘bug fix’ for some is that Sony has now created a new option in the camera settings that fixes the camera distortion. Simply enable the “Correction for image distortion” option.

Sony has also improved the sound quality of the front facing stereo speakers, as well as bringing aptX HD support when using wireless headphones. There is also now support for app shortcuts.

Thanks to everyone that sent this in!
