Sony Mobile has trademarked a new Xperia model, the ‘Xperia TL’ at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). We couldn’t find a similar trademark filed in Europe, so perhaps the Xperia TL is exclusive to North America.
Sony Mobile may be using the Xperia TL to differentiate the AT&T version (LT30at) of the Sony Xperia T (LT30p), with a metallic rear cover versus the plastic version bound for Europe and Asia. Sony used the Xperia SL name with its faster processor over the Xperia S, both handsets being otherwise identical. Maybe it will do something similar for the LT30. Then again, we’re not sure why Sony would want to dilute the brand names and create confusion for consumers. Hopefully all will be revealed shortly.
