Sony C650X ‘Odin’ model number uncovered [2013 flagship]

Sony Mobile is revamping its model numbers from 2013 onwards. Gone is the ST/MT/LT code structure to denote small, medium and large touchscreen handsets. Instead what we now have is a new five character model number that will be the new standard going forward.

The User-Agent Profile (UAProf) for Sony Mobile’s 2013 flagship, codenamed ‘Odin’, has been discovered (see an extract below). From the brief information, we can tell that there are three new Sony Mobile model numbers: C6502, C6503 and C6506. We understand that these are all one handset – the different last character in each model number denotes the region/carrier to be released. The UAProf shows that this 2013 flagship is running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with 10.1.A.0.XXX firmware. Excited? Let the 2013 Xperia rumours begin.

    I want a 4.7″ 1080p Display, 2GB ram, CMOS 13MP camera capable of taking 16:9 images, a qualcomm s4 pro chip clocked at 1.7 Ghz, and a design that is a fusion of the Xperia ray from 2011 and Xperia ion from 2012, as well as some Android Jelly Bean love sprinkled with a a bit of Playstation Mobile.

    There will be two flagship phones from Sony next year. Just like this year with the S and the T.
    The first flagship will have a 4.6″ screen (same technology as in the V) with the new RS camera modules. The Q3 flagship will have a 5″ OLED screen along with the latest Quad core processor.

    What’s the fuss about 4.2 it hasn’t gone official yet and people are demanding for it, 5in? too much for a smartphone.. OLED display? too much saturated plus BE2 very saturated. I think the more plausible approach is the new Exmor RS sensor and remove the overcompression issue, “C” reminds me of the cybershot and Sony please make it good this time, make it reach the market also ASAP, latest 2012 line have been announced but very few customers are getting it and losing interest.

    I think this phone should have a slim design,
    good GPU Adreno 320/latest POWERVR
    at least 2100 mah
    opticontrast display on V or even X-reality engine on their TV’s (rather impossible but maybe..)
    Camera that’s on par or even better than what’s on iphone 5 (Not an apple fanboy but we cannot deny how Apple uses Sony’s image sensors to the fullest)
    Latest OS out of the box that is optimized for the hardware and wont get crappy when updated to another version (2010,2011 and 2012 lines when updated to latest OS Versions sucked big time; JB out of the box more realistic since very few devices are running JB, wont get crappy if updated to rumored Key Lime Pie)

    This phone could be the one that puts Sony back in the smartphone game and compete with the likes of Samsung and HTC, granted that they put the right hardware. I just hope the put all their best technology in one flagship that will blow everyone away, which is something I know Sony is capable of.

    SONY MOBILE WHAT’S GOING ON? Don’t tell me you will continue the trend of releasing too much(very confusing for sony fans who wants perfect xperia model) similar phones on the market?

    If you will keep your 2012 strategy in 2013, im sorry Sony the reason why i am using android is because of YOU(sony mobile) but with this disappointment i think i need to go to other brand and another OS.

    Pls i want to stay using Sony Xperia Phones, release one perfect convincing handset which has different touch with your lower end phones.

    Since in 2013 the 6th year of Xperia Series in the mobile business.
    Why dont you release on mobile especially for 2013?

    - use most advance Gorilla Glass Screen

    - Expensive price is fine with me as long as its not as expensive as the iPhone. Maybe 20% lower tag of iphone price.

    Everything that occured this year was based on the Sony Ericsson designed phones and occured during the turnover from SE to just Sony. If online sources on various forums are to be believed, all future Sony devices for 2013 will launch with current (at the time) versions of Android.

    Let’s wait and see what Sony itself can do with devices they themselves designed completely from the ground up.

    Nope. Sony release GB for NXT series because of SE contribution. Now 2013 is different. Sony ALONE along with SONY Corporation will make the real SONY MADE XPERIA PHONE WITHOUT THE SHADOW OF OLD SONY ERICSSON.

    Yeah and the price ? Full HD screen ? Too much, the only difference it will do is ask more ressources, 720p is enough for the naked eye. Quad core ? Do you think you’re on a pc or what ? Dual core processor does fine, and requires less energy. 4GB of RAM ? 2GB is already insane and more than enough for a smartphone, and the more RAM you have, the less battery life you will have. 3000 mAh battery ? Instead of putting a 1080p screen, a quad core processor and 4GB of RAM that will ask a lot of energy, just put a regular 1800-2100 mAh battery with quad core s4, 1-2GB of RAM and an HD screen. You will get the exact same on an Android platform, with almost the same battery life but with a smaller battery thus a thinner phone.

    You guys really need to think a little bit instead of just asking for the best on your phone like idiots. That’s what samsung fanboys do.

    I know that. What does that have to do with Android 4.2 and the Odin? Right now 4.2 hasn’t been released yet, so its impossible for the Prototype Odin to be running software that google hasn’t released to OEM’s yet.

    Samsung makes 80-90% of all OLED panels used in consumer electronics. Samsung made the OLED panel used in the PSVita.
    Sony just know how to optimise the technology better seeing as they pioneered it.

    SonyEricsson is much greater in mobile phones. There were such masterpieces as K750 and the company was #2 after Nokia. And even brilliant 2011 handsets and NXT series were gorgeous. But now… we have dual core handsets with worse screens and higher price. And xperia V rolling out in december… Sad. I hope next handsets will be much better.

    4.8″+ i awful. SGS3 and One X screens are too big. Normal people cant use it with one hand.
    It is much better to use 7″ tablet, when you use your phone with 2 hands.
    I hope there will be a metal clone with 4.3-4.5″, of course without buttons

    why people want their mobile phone with bigger screen?, its not practical anymore if mobile phone become more than 4.6++ inch, we need to use both hand just to send text. For me, the perfect phone is 4.3 inch screen. 1 more thing, its not practical to wish bigger battery capacity with thin body because right now researcher still searching for new generation of battery
