in Xperia Z and Xperia ZL

By now we’ve had a chance to get a good look at the Sony Xperia Z pretty much from every angle. But if you’re still wondering where everything sits on the handset, then you may find this infographic useful. It shows you exactly where all of the sensors are as well as the notification light and everything else. Click through for the image.

  • Weird.. no proximity sensor on the top front? :S

  • mountain

Good! It did’t leave out the strap hole, unlike the ion

The speaker seems quite small. I hope xLoud improve it a bit.

  • Hamza Salau

    no noise cancelling mic?

  • 12

  • Xperia Fan

    No dedicated camera button?

  • No dedicated camera button?

  • Jan

please xperia play 2 on MWC!

  • nanana

    Using tegra 4 :)
    5 inch display

  • owl

No. The ZL has it though.

  • Harryville

Great to see the Z has MHL too!

  • Cloud_Connected

I guess that this function is included in the light sensor (zero light = proximity of an object…)

I hope so too! Has anyone information about the xLoud feature? Is it based on hardware or software?

  • Cloud_Connected

Hmm… i´ve a question concerning the “Z” – is the maximum sd card size 32gb or 64gb – I´think I remember that I´ve read somewhere about 64gb, though on the Sony product blog and the whitepaper it says 32gb…?

  • DragonClaw

It has to 32 GB. 32 External, + 16 Internal, + whatever they decide to give us on-cloud

  • Xajel

Officially, it’s 32GB… but later you will see some reports of working 64GB ( on select brands and models as some has compatibility issues )… it’s already a known fact even some older models has this thing before…

  • AsadMulla

Excellent its still got a strap hole. I always ues a strap so I dont drop my phone and a thief cant snatch it out of my hands. other manufacturers dont give strap holes

  • solidpig

Well, if it’s the same xLoud as the 2012 Xperia models, then I can tell you that it’s software. It definetly makes it louder… But at higher frequencies, it sounds terrible

  • You gotta love those holes.

  • I don’t understand the number 3 who can explain me?

  • chickybits

ah..this Xperia looks so if only they can make it fit the human hand…!

  • chickybits

or the thief might take your phone with the hand attached…ouch!

  • chickybits

yehh, let the celebrations begin!…i’ll bring the party hats and streamers, you organise the …”entertainment”…if you know what I mean ;)

  • chickybits

really? you have to have been living under a rock not to know that, surely :( #xperiafan #cough

  • Avinash

Number 3 is the pogo pin that lets you charge the phone thru charging dock.

  • “16. Main mircophone”. Oh dear…

  • Kaostheory

Why can’t any manufacturer put it on the front of the phone? I don’t know how many people I’ve seen, including myself hold the phone tilted so they can see and hear in noisy environments I guess this is where viewing angles come into effect.

  • SonyFan

who could beat samsung? vote here for sony
like this comment so that everyone can vote for sony

  • Quark Gluon

I always thought it was the secondary speaker for stereo playback in landscape mode.

  • Z

is there an HDMI port available on this phone?

  • that should be microphone :P I saw it when reading!

  • Cloud_Connected

I would have hoped for 64gig without any further tweaks, though 48gb in sum are/ have to be ok…

  • Xajel

With jellybean; 32GB is a minimum for any high-end… as you can’t move apps to the microSD with JellyBean and higher

  • One of the few things they could’ve done here is made those charging connectors also output either audio, video, or USB connectivity. Oh well…

  • I voted, Sony is the leading vote getter at 36%

  • I think it is because HD Voice functionality

  • MoeJoe

the display and speaker seem to be pretty good judging from this video(

  • Ayt

It supports usb mhl which can do what hdml port does

  • AsadMulla

Luckily, I do not have a prosthetic hand, otherwise ………………

  • aks

  • Akil
