Agreed Chris. The S is 64mm wide, which is the sweet spot for me. I don’t understand the thinking behind the SP. If a person can stomach something that wide, why wouldn’t they just buy the ZL instead? Maybe once the pricing is revealed I’ll have my answer.

Hopefully the extra heft of the Xperia SP would mean a huge battery capacity, like at least 2600 mAh HUGE. If this is going to be MUCH cheaper than the ZL, I’ll get this one instead.

While you have your crystal ball out can you let us know the price difference between the SP and ZL? It must be significant based on your comment.

My wish is a Sony that would focus on delivering just a few distinct models to all markets and invest more heavily in software. A premium, a mid-range and a budget phone for emerging markets. All these other meh too Sony mobile devices make my head spin.The Xperia Z is a gorgeous device but it still falls far short of Apple on the custom software side. If Sony doesn’t want to lead the way with a custom flavour of Android, then just do the hardware and give customers stock Android.

They can market like crazy and sell a lot of the Xperia Z this year. But if the software is still essentially crap, and the experience average at best, good luck retaining those customers in the future. They already lost me with the lousy ICS update for the Xperia S.

I’m seeing a lot of complaints about the weight of this phone, I assume a lot of the commenter’s here are female.

It’s designed by Chinese team. Most high-end handsets will be designed by the Japanese team or Exclusive handsets will be designed by European team.

No Z for me, it has poor voice quality, poor battery life and poor viewing angles.
