Xperia Tablet S Jelly Bean update due late April

Sony has confirmed that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Tablet S will arrive by the end of April / early May. Many owners have been eagerly awaiting this update as a number of people are suffering from issues relating to the tablet randomly shutting down, as well as experiencing unstable Wi-Fi connections.

Sony says that the JB update will resolve this memory management issue. Despite this, owners are annoyed about the time taken to release the update and have started a petition to try and get Sony to release it earlier. Sadly, it seems that there are no current plans to update the Sony Tablet S (the first generation Sony tablet) to Android Jelly Bean.

Statement on Jelly Bean Release Schedule for Sony Tablets

We will be releasing Jelly Bean for the Xperia Tablet end of April 2013 / early May 2013 for the Xperia Tablet. This update will resolve a memory management issue that may cause the Xperia Tablet to shut down from time to time.

Currently we do not have a roadmap to release the Jelly Bean update for the 1st Generation Tablet (Sony Tablet S).
