Last week’s Xperia ZR (C550X) announcement was bitter sweet. The phone itself looked great offering a slightly more pocketable chassis compared to the Xperia Z along with a higher level of water resistance and dedicated camera button. However, Sony has no plans to launch the device across most of Europe, disappointing some fans.
From what we know so far, European plans for the phone are restricted to Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands and Sweden (we are likely to see it in other Nordic countries too). We have managed to get hold of launch details for the Dutch market. Apparently, the device will launch in the Netherlands at some point during the month of July and will have an RRP of €479. This sounds reasonable, especially compared to the Xperia Z RRP of €649. Also, by the time it hits retail we may even see lower prices. We’ll bring you details on other markets as soon as we have them.
