xperia-zr-galleryThe Sony Xperia ZR (C550X) is one of the few premium Xperia handsets which has a removable battery. The Xperia ZR has a 2300mAh capacity battery, but if that is not enough for you then Mugen Power, extended battery specialists, has two batteries that will probably help.

The first is a 2500mAh extended battery (HLI-BA950SL) that will fit into the existing housing of the Xperia ZR and will set you back $44.50 with free delivery worldwide. The second is a 4600mAh battery (HLI-C5503XL), offering twice the capacity over the original battery and costs $89.50. This particular battery needs its own back cover, but Mugen Power offers these in all four colours of the handset (black, white, mint and pink). Both batteries will ship on 6 September 2013.

The photo used is that of the ZL, not the ZR.

Yeah, and if you replace the back cover with a lead shelter you can attach a nuclear powerplant to it!

  • Sami Mrabet

A Article about ZR but a pic on ZL hahah

  • nameofthewind

question is will it still be waterproof if you used Mugen’s back cover?

This phone amazes me every day!
Have you seen battery tests on gsmarena? 11h20m of browsing :O damn that’s great!
And with that beast of 4600mAh Mugen battery theoretically 22h40m of browsing :O :O

    fucking awesome
i hate my xperia zl battery

  • spade

yea, it has good battery life, too bad it just has 8GB internal :/

  • Kazuo Sat?

I’m pretty sure that’s a yes, Xperia V got the same extended battery treatment from Mugen and it retained its waterproofing.

  • Kazuo Sat?

    I know how you feel.
I’m holding off buying this to replace my XS until they release an update to transfer apps to the memory card.

  • Kazuo Sat?

I want to see how thick it makes the phone, why don’t they have any pictures?
I asked for this when the phone was announced.
I said 300-3,500 mAh and they blindside me with 4,600!! :O
This thing is going to be a power users wet dream.

Now I’m waiting until there’s a solution around moving apps to the sd card.
8gb is way to small for a high end xperia, 16gb should be minimum.

  • spade

    same here..
i probably will not buy Honami, the same reason i skip Z because of the glass made back panel.
i heard GS4 v4.3 jelly bean has option for that, hope ZR will have the same ability in the next update, or not i’ll stuck with TX….again :/

  • Mac

Saw someone asking about the waterproofing and that it would be intact, but what about the NFC, still working as it should?

  • soroush

Does it work on the xperia zr c5502 ?
and how thin is it ? how much is its diameter ?

  • nagymancs

it doesn’t mean anything as it has the SD slot. My HTC ChaCha originally only had 150MB aswell, and with a script now it sees a 3.5GB partition of an 8GB sd-card as internal, and another 3.5GB as SD-card. So thishow with a small speed sacrifice you can even have 64GB as internal aswell.. Not that there’s any point of it though…

  • spade

LOL.. You’re seriously joking right? If 8GB available storage of course there’ll be no problem, but no is not, and not to mention there’s bunch of apps that doesn’t allow you to install an app in SD card…troll much?

  • Giogio

hmmm, is the 2500 supposed to offer noticeably better performances than the original one?
I do not mean just for the 200mh more, but maybe for something special in the Mugen batteries (if they are really so good in making batteries).

  • Sergiogio

how is the 2500 one supposed to perform compared to the original 2300 one?
