in Tips & Tricks, Xperia Z Ultra

XZU Hard ResetNot many Sony Xperia devices have a physical button to hard reset the handset in case it freezes, but Sony is starting to include them. The Xperia ZL has one and so does the Xperia SP. Well it looks like Sony has also included one in the Xperia Z Ultra. A small red button is included in the microSD flap in which you should use a pencil to reset the phone by holding it down for 5 to 10 seconds. Make sure you don’t use anything too sharp to press the button otherwise you will damage the button, trust us, we talk from experience with the Xperia SP. The picture below shows exactly where you’ll find the button.

So thz XZ have not the camera button, not the waterproof jack 3.5, not the beautiful screen, and now… not the reset button… CRAP! :p

  • Felipe Pimenta

Power Button + Volume Up for about 3 to 5 seconds… IMO, it’s easier if you don’t have any sharp points close by…

  • DrKrFfXx

Although I’d really like the waterproof headphone jack.

  • afzal

Xz do have the reset button hidden at the bottom part on the right side.

You will have to dry that hole after making it wet before you can stick a jack.

  • FermentedDischarge

Seriously, what is that thing for?

  • Genius Thoughts Maker

Am I the only one who understood and got this well ?
Sony doesn’t trust its products that it put emergency button inside them
Sony knows well that phones/semi-tablet/tablets are going to lag after a while of usage.

  • DrKrFfXx

Waterproof headphone jack means it is not covered by a flap, like the Z. Opening the flap to plug the headphones is a hassle.

  • Babylonbwoy

Power + Vol+ are restart/power off options (5sec restart, 10sec turn off), nothing to do with hard reset.

  • Babylonbwoy

or use SBH50/52 or any BT headset.

  • Babylonbwoy

Come on it’s technology, every new device is better than previous one, we have to realize how much they were overwhelmed a few years ago

  • Babylonbwoy

And the next after Honami will be the best at that moment…

  • Babylonbwoy

Total Genius, wonder how it was possible to live without your genius considerations! The world will be a better place now.

  • Babylonbwoy
  • Alok

Ah, yes it is. That 5 second restart is the hard reset, you talk about. Go try it.

  • Babylonbwoy

Already tied it on all my xperia devices. Are we talking about the same thing ? I wonder if I do not confuse with Factory Reset which is the same for me (until now) as Hard Reset! For me restart or reboot is different from a reset.
Nevermind, english isn’t my primary langage so…

  • Alok

Ah. No no. A hard reset is basically rebooting the phone when it freezes. It’s not a factory reset ;)
