New Xperia Z1 update on the horizon? (14.1.G.2.213)

by XB on 25th September 2013

in Firmware, Xperia Z1

Xperia Z1_14.1.G.2.213A screenshot of an as-yet-unseen firmware build for the Sony Xperia Z1 has appeared. It shows firmware build 14.1.G.2.213 for the HSPA+ version of the Xperia Z1 (C6902). This is still an Android 4.2.2 update with the 3.4.0 kernel.

There is a big jump in build number from the current firmware (14.1.G.1.534) i.e. this new firmware is in the form 14.1.G.2.XXX rather than the current 14.1.G.1.XXX. However, the author says the update mainly brings optimised power consumption and performance enhancements. There is no sign of this firmware on the PTCRB site yet, but we’ll keep you posted if it starts to roll out.

Thanks Ben!

Looks like Sony has finally dedicated resources to the software team. Excellent.
My Z1 is awesome, absolutely the best phone I ever had (and I had top class phones like note2 s4 iphone htc one etc…)

    Hey !

What’s the difference between this models

    C6902, C6903, C6906, C6943 ?

    Many thanks !

  • @atWidget

Difference of networks (3G and 4G):

    C6902 : 3G ONLY
    C6903 : 4G LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
    C6906 : 4G LTE 700 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
    C6943 : 4G LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 + 1seg TV

(You can see that C6903 is the best for 4G LTE connectivity)

  • Giuliano

It’s much better to have a provider who fixes the bugs quickly, than one that has few bugs and fixes them in months.
I remember a bug on the lumia 920, that bricked the phone when you performed an hard reset. It tooks two months to nokia to fix it, I don’t know how many phones were bircked in the meanwhile.
Z1’s firmware, btw, is very good, it’s smooth as the S4 has never been (I had it since last week) and battery life is excellent.

So let’s say a “well done Sony” this time.

  • Camilo Uribe

    Thanks !

Seems there is already a 14.1.G.1.534 update around that some users, depending on location, already have installed. Sadly seems UK users are missing out with no UK firmware version available…can’t help be wonder how long it will take for UK customers to get hold of of the 14.1.G.2.213 when there is already a delay on the 14.1.G.1.534 version :-

  • Micro

SUS helps most of the time. But it’s probably some app in the background. You may try to spot it with this app:

There are some useful topics too about this here:

Any news on camera updates as currently the sensor and lens appear wasted as it only uses 8mp in auto and 16/9 mode ? The majority of camera reviews don’t appear better for the Z1 than for any other phones :-S
