in Android, Tips & Tricks, Xperia Z2

create_ps4One of the new features of Sony’s Xperia KitKat builds is the new themes and wallpapers. If any of you have eagle eyes, you’ll notice the patterns and palette are exactly the same as seen with Sony’s PlayStation 4 user interface.

We have three wallpapers from the Sony D6503 Sirius to share and it’s interesting to know they are named “connect_ps4”, “create_ps4” and “discover_ps4”. Notice the PS4 tag on each? We are likely to see more of this cross utilisation when it comes to branding and assets. Anyway, the wallpapers available to download are of 2160 x 1920 pixel resolution and should work on handsets with 1080p displays. You can find the link below.

Update: We now have all the wallpapers to download, found in the zip file below.

    I don’t like these wallpapers as much as Xperia S, Z, and Z1. They look so… 1999?

  • hoshimiyaichigo

Thank you for the wallpapers, I’ll use that for my PS Vita wallpaper

  • Itsarapong Intoum

    Windows XP theme ? XD

  • vigneshprince

yeah the whole wallpaper was best in XZ and some in XZ1 but why they made classic for XZ2??

  • nidou bossy

stop complaining about these wallpapers.. take it or leave it and shut up! lol

  • apophis

we have a hipster over here…

  • Quark Gluon

Some may like it. Some may not. But they all surely have the right to speak their mind.

Nothing wrong with retro dude. 90’s is the best IMO, but now? Pfft… Just look around you and you’ll understand. (hopefully)

IMO this follows the “trend”. Like with icons – win 95/98 – 16 colors, XP – 256 colors, Vista/7 – really colorful, clear, well made “images” turned into icons, and now Win 8 – one color and flat sh*t (like skydrive, IE icon, etc). The same I see there with android, and Sony seems to follow this trend. I don’t like this 4.4, looks so plain, I can do it with photoshop in 2 minutes :/
I really miss ICS live (themed) wallpapers (like Xperia S ICS). They were sharp, higly detailed, showing the real power/resolution of the screen, not disturbing but still live and beautiful even in one color. JB disappointed me in this matter. Now the only one wallpaper for me in Z1 is the one with this default stock one (on gray background), but these..? No, it’s too much for me, not gonna leave it even for an hour. (that’s IMHO of course).

  • Vista

Feels like a simplified version of the windows vista wallpaper =(

  • j_ee

what happened to the Xperia Live Wallpapers from the 2012 line?

    super ugly

Are people really complaining about the wallpapers? One of the easiest things to change to pretty much whatever you want..

  • penubag

I’m not complaining about the wallpapers, the fact that bothers me is the new design language. Obviously we can change the wallpaper but now the boot animations look just as bland as the new wallpapers, etc. I liked quality wallpapers out of the box too, it gave the device a premium feeling; even cheap plastic like samsung can download xperia z wallpapers but that doesn’t give it a premium feel
