Xperia Z_14.1.B.0.101Earlier today, Sony certified a new firmware version in the form of build number 14.1.B.0.101. Initially, we got very excited thinking that the move from ‘10.4’ firmware to a ‘14.1’ build likely signified an Android 4.4.2 KitKat certification.

However, looking at the build number in full, there is a good chance that this could be a transposition error by the PTCRB. The last known firmware release for the Xperia Z, with build number 10.4.1.B.0.101, never hit the PTCRB previously. This version number has a strong similarity to the recently certified version – 14.1.B.0.101 versus 10.4.1.B.0.101. It looks like the PTCRB potentially missed a ‘0’, although we haven’t seen mistakes like this in the past. Whatever comes of this, we’ll keep you informed.
