Xperia Z1 KitKat ChangelogThe support pages for the Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact have been updated to include the KitKat changelog information. The pages point to firmware build 14.3.A.0.681 being the first Android KitKat 4.4.2 version and includes a couple of extra improvements that weren’t mentioned in Sony’s release this morning.

This includes an enhanced email app, but more importantly that the camera app has been updated along with the “overall tuning to improve the camera experience”. The word ‘tuning’ to us suggests that Sony may have tweaked some of the camera algorithms for better photos.

We recently saw some photo samples of the Xperia Z2 up against the Xperia Z1, which showed that the Z2 appeared to have less noise. As both handsets are running the same camera hardware, there’s every reason to believe that Sony has brought the same camera improvements to the Xperia Z1. We’ll only know for sure once KitKat starts hitting peoples handsets in the very near future.
