Xperia Z1 KitKat ChangelogThe support pages for the Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact have been updated to include the KitKat changelog information. The pages point to firmware build 14.3.A.0.681 being the first Android KitKat 4.4.2 version and includes a couple of extra improvements that weren’t mentioned in Sony’s release this morning.

This includes an enhanced email app, but more importantly that the camera app has been updated along with the “overall tuning to improve the camera experience”. The word ‘tuning’ to us suggests that Sony may have tweaked some of the camera algorithms for better photos.

We recently saw some photo samples of the Xperia Z2 up against the Xperia Z1, which showed that the Z2 appeared to have less noise. As both handsets are running the same camera hardware, there’s every reason to believe that Sony has brought the same camera improvements to the Xperia Z1. We’ll only know for sure once KitKat starts hitting peoples handsets in the very near future.

Can’t wait for my Z1 Compact to receive KitKat, hopefully the minor issues I have currently are ironed out.

  • xperiafan

  • haha

    How about kitkat for XV??

  • fried_egg

I am happy with the pre-kk version except for one thing.. the audio on any video at a gig is useless. they got it right with an update to the S so why is the Z1 still wrong… hopefully KK fixes it!

  • Emil Oskarsson

Still being tested according to Sony, not sure if they will release Kitkat for Xperia v since it’s over 18 months old :p

  • Mujeeb Ahmad

Am I the only one really excited about the new email app? i use my email app more than camera. but every little enhancement is welcome :)

  • HardyHarHar

I thought that the V was released on december so the support should end by june isnt?

  • Sonyc

Too bad there will be no, 4K video recording, touch to wake. Actually almost all Z2 features will not be added to Z1 devices, says Sony.

  • Abhijit Biswas

When did Sony say that?? Those features will be ported to Z1 and related devices in june or something. If they do that now, then it will eat into the sales of Z2 and that isn’t a good thing…

  • gtop

No, I am too, so you’re not alone! I’m really hoping for notifications for email folders and a way of adding emails to calendar events, or making events from emails :)

  • xperianer

    enhanced email app?^^ oO

guess they simply added imap push and navigatin drawer. thats what i already use on my xperia T email app :D

    but hey….any more features welcome^^

  • nfs2010

And Xperia X1 and X2 as well – LMAO

  • Emil Oskarsson

Not sure when it was released but im hoping Sony updates Xperia V, T and TX for ur sake :) The phones can handle it without problem and qualcomm is still supporting s4 chips so i dont see why they wouldnt give you android 4.4 kitkat. Hopefully they will :) keep your fingers crossed and have patience :D

“We recently saw some photo samples of the Xperia Z2 up against the Xperia Z1, which showed that the Z2 appeared to have less noise. As both handsets are running the same camera hardware”

Z2 also has improved camera processing (Snapdragon 801 instead of 800). According to Qualcomm there is a 45% improvement over the 800 in working with camera sensor data.

What’s the differences between older android version and the newer one?, since they just look the same for me

  • Sumo

Anybody know when KitKat will come to Z?

  • Sumo

Never mind, found it out in another section.

  • Mac

    Touch block small app FTW!

  • Divya Bharathi

Very interesting thing I just come across at – I could choose any number of jewellery items (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
