New firmware (9.2.A.1.210) released for Xperia V

by XB on 9th April 2014

in Firmware, Xperia V

Xperia V_9.2.A.1.210_2A small firmware update has arrived on the Xperia V (LT29i) moving the build number from version 9.2.A.1.199 to 9.2.A.1.210. Sony has not updated its software support pages to reflect the new firmware, however judging by the move in build number we would expect bug fixes and performance enhancements. If you’ve downloaded it, let us know what changes you’ve noticed below.

  • Mhar Jayson Cortez

    Lt25i sir :)

  • onosmajente

Still no any update at all here in Nigeria what can I do please

  • xperiamike

really…on my knees praying for our last update of features of “answering machine” and all the stuff with the kitkat xperia firmware soon…..anyway I hope this update comes OTA.

  • Well, one change I noticed just now is that now when you move the brightness slider the auto-brightness check-mark stays on.

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

Major updates are never OTA. :p

  • xperiamike

hmmmm major? ok…here goes my bother’s wifi

  • xperiamike

normally , if it delays, i use the update service instead….
hope it works for me….in Ghana

  • s-emo

    yes, just a typo

  • Martin Ambre

    Still same bugs

Just a sony legacy to release bugs rather than software update

  • not happy

Where do you get those updates from? My PC companion still says “your phone is up to date” and all I have is 9.2.A.0.295 !!!

  • Akuma

ahhh fellow africans wasup no update yet here in Zimbabwe tho

  • John

The same here. I also only have the 9.2.A.0.295!! Cannot update on my phone. Says it has the latest update!! I am placed in Denmark.

  • not happy

I’m in Australia. But I don’t think it should matter for PC Companion…

  • suraj

    how abt my xperia z

  • Ethan ‘blaze’ Parker

Yeah, I mean like the one you’re asking for. Kitkat update can’t be OTA.

  • ronis

    different country. same shit. :(

  • TradersF

Just updated my xperia V. Still has the video camera BUG!!!!! WTF. Why can’t they fix the f####ing strange ticking noise recording on the video cam. I love sony but my patience is wearing thin.

  • vivameteor

    LT25, not LT29i

  • Lang

Just receive update notification for TX

  • Lang

    Screen shot

  • boosook

I’m afraid my V will die with Android 4.1.2… :(

  • francesco

    this situation it’s really ridicolous!!!!

  • ss

Finally, I hope Sony fixed all bugs. If not, so it’s my last sony phone (

  • Frode P. Bergsager

In Norway we have waited over four weeks for 9.2.A.1.199, now I understand why it never arrived.
Updated my V to 9.2.A.1.210 today.

  • Berg

There is no way they fixed all the bugs. There is not a complex system in the world without bugs, so good luck if thats your requirement.

  • It does matter. PC Companion sends your customisation number and build number to the update servers and if your region has a new build you receive it.

  • My phone is a generic Nordic customisation and I got the update; is yours a carrier customised version?

  • scw

Same thing here. Never got the 9.2.A1.199. It seems they just skip to 9.2.A1.210.

Camera low light issue is still the same!!! didnt tested the audio bug in recording but the low light flickering is heavy. damn!

  • TradersF

I agree! I loved this mobile when i first bought it. Light weight, great screen and awesome camera. Now i feel just let down by Sony.
Come on Sony, you have one last chance.

  • Jerry Berglund

Testing it, and sorry to say. Nothing is done about the camera. I do actually think the phones gets extremely hot as well. ALmost burning my fingers. And that is the screen, the backside close to the nfc-chip and the volume and on/off-button on the side. I got a strange warning that it wasnt charging like it should. And it do seem to use a lot the battery. DOnt know if its a bug or not.The Theme-engin bug that ment that the volume-window vanished if you use the themes, is fixed though. And I do think the speakers seems to sound better. Feels also like the phone is more smooth in the interface and stable.

  • XV user

Anyone get the update in malaysia?

  • haha

Finally the minor update arrive for V…thanks sony..:))

  • Gutt Grinder

Indeed the camera bug is still there…

One of the reasons I chose the Xperia V more that the Z series because of its amazing camera, design and low price.. Before when my device is still 4.1.2 Jelly bean it takes average pictures even in low light. Now that it has been updated to 4.3, camera is is worst.

By the way I still haven’t got the firmware update here in the Philippines, I even got the “Video unlimited” app which is useless in my country… XD

  • Frederik Samberg

I’m still fighting with the reboot issue. I’ve found my own solution, which is to deactivate LTE, but that’s not very satisfying – hope this update might fix this issue, cause the last one didn’t :(

  • francesco

lol, one thing are small bugs, this bugs are huge, i never used an iphone with a bugged camera and you? ;)

  • onosmajente

Thank Bro. How can I get the update coz is not coming on my phone nor in pc also

  • hbse

Agree, i also think that LTE is part of the reboot issue. Sometimes when i’m on the train listening to internet radio the phone reboot exactly at the same place. I feel it could have something to do with LTE cell handover. I didn’t see that today with the new version.

  • I thinks the fix is focused on sth off the table, eg the memory leak in 199

  • reza

Hi, my phone is Xperia V and still have not got the 4.3 update , when the update will be released in the country ? SI number my phone with the code of Columbia 1268-8838….But I ‘m living in Iran .

  • Jerry Berglund

Ok, I do have to change my judgment from yeasterday. This is actually a really good update. The only bug what I can tell is the camera bug.

  • major

  • Muyeed Mizan

Did the update fix Sudden battery drop (10-20%) Issue…..??

  • Manaf115

just got my update a while ago via update center.. PH here..

  • I’d rather post as guest

Yeah… The Volume UI is now back to normal .. Now that you mention it..Yeah it’s a bit hot i suppose .. But well.. At least we received an update..

  • jhayp sevilla

Did you get you get via ota

  • decaldeorest

i need the official update from SONY , not manual -_- ..*location “indonesia”

  • Jerry Berglund

Actually I have to say, this update is really good. The phone do get warm, but its stable. The only thing is the camera as I said before, but there is some themes that still do have problems, but for once I think it actually is the company who develop those themes. Before that the fault was actually from Sonys who didnt check that the themes actually worked.

  • Radical05

just updated here in South Africa phone is running smoother than penguin sliding on ice

  • jhayp sevilla

Just got the update and my camera still has bug its blinking and theres some lines running up and down

  • Thomas de Waal

I have earphones with buttons in the cable and when i plugged my earphones in my phone after the previous update sound was just blasted through the speaker. now my earphones work again!! I’ve also heard that a lot of people had this problem so that’s at least one bug fixed. thanks sony

  • Abdul Wasae Tariq

Who else gets that camera bug where there are horizontal digital lines while taking a picture and the auto-focus is deadlocked trying to set focus on those lines
(click and enlarge this image to see the uncompressed version where those lines – i am talking about – are noticeable)

  • Siddhesh

Seems it has solved one of my pblms, now no multi touch issue while phone is kept on charging.
Now only one touch is visible when touched @ a place on screen when phone is connected to charger.

  • Rick N

why not just kitkat directly, 4.3 jellybean have lots of bugs one most annoying is the camera tooks long time to focus. Hope sony hear this not just XV but XSP, XT, XTX, etc they’re similar model should be easy

  • Sathish Kumar

  • val

No screenshot in power button!!! Hate it!!!

  • Conan

Just updated my Xperia V to this 9.2.A.1.210, the update took ages i have to admit, and was worried that it would be a F*** up due to all the negative feedback, but all went fine, NO problems, i love the update, the interface is much smoother, the colour seems brighter/crisper on screen, the themes are cool, but more free ones would be nice, although i miss some of the old wallpapers, the speed is VERY good, camera fine, haven’t tested video yet, now got STAMINA mode, the screen shot no longer works with power button, but rather volume down and power button, new side bar thing next to pages, so you can choose what apps to display/uninstall etc. Keyboard is slightly different, will have to get used to it, Walkman working fine, earplugs fine, wifi no problem, 3/4g no problem…no flickering screen, GPS fine…. All my apps working great, am very happy with this update so far….Thanks Sony….love my V even more now!!

TIP uninstall your anti-virus and any task killers, battery optimizers etc from your phone before doing this update. and then re-install after. Also allow exception on your firewall for sony companion so it doesn’t block your update. My phone is only two months old, maybe thats why i didn’t have problems, update size was like 400MB!

  • edwin

i lost the screenshot function on the power on of button, cant find it any where, any idea?

  • Rj

It actually depends on your customization number

  • Martin Ambre

    what are the changes here????

    Can anyone help me change.log….
