Xperia Sponsor Champions LeagueIf you like football (or soccer for those in North America), then you’ll already know that the UEFA Champions League is one of the biggest global tournaments for the sport that takes place each year. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has sponsored the Champions League for many years promoting the PlayStation brand.

Earlier today, Sony announced that it had extended this partnership for a further three years up until the season commencing 2017/18. However, the great news for Xperia fans is that Sony Mobile will also partner UEFA, which means that the both brands will enjoy extensive rights to the matches, pre-match training sessions, media, hospitality, events including the Final, as well as the exclusive digital partnership on UEFA.com.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Events SA marketing director had this to say: “We are very pleased that Sony has extended its sponsorship, as we will continue to work closely with PlayStation, but we now also welcome Sony Xperia into the partnership. This will enable ground-breaking entertainment to bring excitement to fans around the world through the UEFA Champions League relationship.”

Dennis van Schie, Chief Commercial Officer of Sony Mobile, said: “UEFA Champions League is the pinnacle of club football and we’re excited to bring fans around the world extraordinary ways to enjoy and share their passion for the game. This prestigious global platform enables us to extend our reach to new audiences and provide them with truly engaging and immersive mobile experiences.
