Will Sony’s H2 flagship be “Made for Bond”? Leaked promo pic suggests so

in Rumours

Made for Bond ThumbnailThe leaked promo picture below appears to suggest that Sony will tie-up its latest smartphone release with the new James Bond flick, SPECTRE, when it launches in November 2015. The pic shows “Made for Bond” with “Xperia -5” underneath. The letter has been masked, which It means it could be the Z5 or maybe Sony is promoting a new letter for the Bond phone.

The picture comes courtesy of Digi-wo, who have a good track record when it comes to Xperia leaks. Of course, the picture could have been created by any one, so take with a pinch of salt for now. However, we know Sony was working on getting the new H2 flagship into the movie, so expect it to be in the movie somewhere.

  • Augustine Kau

hopefully z5 is made for bond, but I am more hoping that z5 will be running on SD820 and have a redesigned look :)
hope Sony won’t fail us (again)

  • Mike Gonzalez

if they actually plan to launch another flagship with basically the same specs as current Z3+/Z4… they can have several seats

  • fried_egg

the xperia T was a bond phone too. which makes it likely and suspect all at once!

  • fried_egg

    SD820 is a 2016 chipset

  • thew01

    bring it on sony !

apparently sony’s got the deal with james bond than the nyamnyung (or semseng)

  • Clarence Alvarado

As stated in the linked article, Bond phone should be the best. IRDK how Sony will pull this thing off to showcase the Z5 as the “best” but the slogan still lives on (make.BELIEVE)

Give us the Sd820/4GB LPDDR4/32GB UFS2.0/QHD with Sonavation Fingerprint Scanner on Display/21MP IMX230 with PDAF and 3-axis optical Steadyshot. These what will make the Z5 the best.

  • I HEARTED my Xperia T! I replaced it with my Z3. My ringtone for over two years was the Bond theme. :-)

*Andrew starts humming the Bond theme and goes back to work*

  • WHATTHE

It will be SD810 V2.1, cant you understand this is the best chip available for now ?

  • shhh

It would stop a bullet, by melting it when it comes in contact with the phone.

  • mUSICA

didnt the z3+ have the same chip v2.1 if im not wrong

  • DBS

If they go ahead with the SD810, then it should read

    “Made for Burned.
    James Burned”

  • Sadman Khan

According to Sony yes :P Let’s see how the Oneplus Two performs. Then we’ll know how good the chipset really is. So far there’s been a leaked score of 63000 or something which sounds promising

  • dragonsneeze

I can’t care less. Bond who?

  • Sadman Khan

Well there are two kinds on a broad scale. Ionic and Covalent

  • nick

I think one plus 2 will have enough room for heat dissipation as mi did with their note pro but stupid sony didn’t think so inspite of using the glass

  • WHATTHE

    No one knows, its speculations.

  • Alvin

Why blur z or whatever that character is icon?

  • Alvin

    Keep dreaming bro:)

  • Alvin

Well it looks like they had a deal with bond so he’s not using the s6

  • Alvin

And one more for you all…

Even my z3 knows it’s own sibling, z3+ overheats

  • Alvin

It looks like there are a lot of outtakes in the shooting because they need to wait for their z5 to cool down because it will burn bond’s hand

  • zymo

Sony does and they confirmed that v2.1 is inside the Z3+ just like HTC’s One M9.

  • Timel

No more letter, Just “Xperia 5”

  • kido

    Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Timel

If this phone really made for bond then it must be very high tech and classy

  • Alvin

    Xperia “blur” 5

  • Alvin

Yup it must be, i don’t care (well just a bit care) about overheating when you have great things inside that phone

  • Alvin

And they need to replace the phone because when the phone heats, it screams like a little girl as the phone burns in it’s own hell

  • Alvin

    Nyamnyung gaylazy ass6

  • Shaktimaan

It has a 5 right next to it, so it can’t be a new series :p

    Definitely z5!

    *captain obvious strikes again*

  • Shaktimaan

I love this hatred for Nyamnyung lol

  • Timel

    High tech and classy…
Maybe the Xperia 5 will come with Iris scanner?

  • marcyff2

it is possible to fix the heat problem. by tweaking the chipset. So i believe in sony

  • Sadman Khan

Apparently the mi note pro heats up too but obviously far less than Z3+ or M9

  • marcyff2

that would make no sence, considering sony’s first flagship (since moving away from ericson) was xperia s.

  • marcyff2

    first comment that makes sence

  • Alvin

I don’t know for fingerprints though

  • marcyff2

they are not showing it so people speculate. and sony this way “has not announced a new flagship”. lets say in the new testing they find out that if you open the camera the phone explodes…… This way they are not forced to rush a device out the door because they promised a Z5. They could release the T5 instead or the L5

  • marcyff2

if the nyamnyung fans didn’t act like Oppla fans then they would not be so hated. but they do, and that as caused nyamnyung to not try harder either, as long as they deliever a product people will buy it.

and that’s exactly the reason why they should hold off launching another flagship until another processor more powerful, power efficient and heating-issues free comes out

Yeah, believe in Sony, I do believe they will throttle the speed.

    I believe in Sony. Pfft.

  • marcyff2

what i mean, is that its not their 5th flagship is their 7th.

  • Timel

    Your right

  • Alvin

plot twist : bond uses s6 edge in the movie without sony knowing it

  • Alvin

they are smart, they should use their smartness to tweak the chipset.

i believe in them too, but i’m afraid if i’m too much believing in them, i’ll be disappointed later because they do something wrong or they disappoint us with something bad or worst

  • Alvin

but all these SD810 ‘overheating’ things made me think. Even though Z Series phone users always experience severe heating with their phones (well, most of them), but that’s it, just heating. but for iphones and samsung phones, I’ve heard news that some of those phones explodes, unlike what they said about sony’s overheating things, but they never build such worst thing than that.

Or it’s just a coincidence? or i have to learn more about overheating?

  • Raj Singh

I don’t like that Sony is paying him millions to use the phone. I don’t think it will negatively or positively impact sales.

  • Raj Singh

    The back looks ugly.
Problem with my Nokia 1520.3 is the bezels are so small it’s hard to avoid pressing the back or search button unless you hold it specifically to avoid it. FWP.

  • Alvin

    the back :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

even i could make it on paint or coreldraw

  • Alvin

that’s why not too small/not too big bezels like in z3/z3+/z2/z4tablet are useful

  • Ulysses Grant

I hope Sony won’t use the Qualcomm 820 chipset that might cause heating issues and could cause Bond to fail in his mission. LOL

  • You didn’t mention battery. Was expecting that to be the first on your spec sheet.
Well, I’ll take all of the specs you list above (they’re perfect) and add a 4,000+ mAh battery, and then the z5 will be the best phone of all time

  • Kamil1308

They are using the Z3 compact in the Bond movie so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

  • Niels d. G.

Xperia T5, the T series used to be the “bond” series

  • Kamil1308

    It doesn’t really

  • Nathan

    810 overheats.

  • Ulysses Grant

Ooopss. I meant to say 810 not 820. LOL Cheers!

  • Z3+ doesnt heat up anymore..but camera quality is still mediocre compare to LG G4, SGS6. So Sony should step up big in camera department and design, imo.

I think when the Sony emails leak came out, there was a story about this. Sony lobbied hard to have their phone be included in the Bond movie but the director and the lead actor at first refused because they felt the phone was too boring. Sony reportedly paid a lot of money just so their phone will be use.

  • jokensy

Q: Now, pay attention Bond. This is your new phone, the Sony Xperia Z5. It comes with a chipset which has the tendency to overheat. You can use it as an explosive against the enemy. Just stick some plastic explosive/C4 to the phone and run the GFX benchmark on it. Bond: Thank you, Q.

I think the OmniBalance-Design should stay forever.
It’s just beautiful and should’nt be changed.
It looked awesome in 2012 and it still looks awesome in 2015, in my opinion it’s timeless.

  • Chaot0407

Imagine Bond calling Sony’s customer service, demanding a refund.

  • Timel

I heard that Sony will use Quartz Design with Xperia Z5

  • You can put your sarcasm away. As far as I’m concerned the Z4/Z3+ is a botched phone but after reading about the debunk 810 overheating rumors I don’t believe the 810 is the culprit.

  • Raj Singh

I think the bezels on my Z Ultra are perfect. I can hold it in landscape (and portrait) mode with my thumb on the edge of the device — no problems. One of my all-time favorite devices.

  • Emil Oskarsson

Agreed, but they should try to decrease the bezels the best way they can without sacrifing the front stereo speakers :)

  • Emil Oskarsson

The picture should say “Snapdragon 810 in smartphones” to be correct. There is no issues on my z4 tablet when it comes to heating. Maximum 55 degrees celcius is what i have experienced on my z4 tablet. My Xperia Z can run from 40-60 degrees celcius for example :)

  • Who is the culprit? The look? One M9 overheating to. LG uses 808 for the G4 and Samsung his own Chipset. So something is off with 810…

Actually it would be shit, if Sony will release another 810 Flagship with nearly the same design language only 3 months after z3+/z4 oO

  • charbel aoun

THIS MOVIE WILL BE A HUGE HIT THEN

  • Alvin

  • beardybuck

The elephant in the room here is Sony. If the 810 isn’t prone to heat, and other vendors have used it without issue then this would suggest the problem is with Sony, and Sony alone.
As a Sony fan this worries me. I love the design, lack of clutter in the skin, camera and dedicated camera key. But if they cannot address this issue with the successor to the Z3+ I may jump ship for the first time in five years.

  • Shaktimaan

The Sony mobile P.R team is at work on that …. I guess

  • steary_eye

Z5 if Sony can call it this way is most likely a new redesigned phone. That should be good enough. But if it is running SD810, I am not going to get it v2 or not. I am going to opt for the Z6 with a more refined Z5 look.

  • steary_eye

Yeah, that’s kind of sad. I wonder what Sony is thinking. Could have easily release a phone and give it a different naming convention, just not Z5. I hope it does not turns out to be true. I was kinda excited thinking that I could change my phone later this year. Anyhow, I could still wait till March next year.

  • steary_eye

I don’t know. I guess everyone has their opinions but Sony as a company never lack in any design ideas. In fact, they are the best in it. Why not let Sony utilize their main strength? They should shake the world with their design.

  • steary_eye

Yeah, that was the initial rumor but looks like. Z6 then.

  • Augustine Kau

but my phone contract is reaching this Oct :(

  • Alvin

‘at work’ and they did it right…..very very right.

  • nick

Yes they do but have better performance plus better heat dissipation than z3 plus also the patch would be able to somewhat control heat, lets hope next flagship won’t do that, roumers are they using same soc again

  • Sadman Khan

    Can Sony do it though?

  • nick

Can’t bet on it as they really screwed with their latest one.

  • Alvin

yeah, about the design, sony’s design is simple, elegant, beautiful, and not boring at all, at least to me. But I don’t get why people are way way too freakin super hyper overexcited about samsung changed their materials to glass. Samsung’s signature design never changed since 2010, so for sony (since 2013), but they both have ups and downs

Sony’s designs are great, simple, beautiful, and great, but they can make the phone lighter in some ways. they also always use high quality materials, even for their plastic phones, imo my xperia L’s design is way better than s5 and their whole products <<2015, so it just no surprise for people if they always use high quality materials for their flagships.

But for samsung, in my opinion, well i haven't even grab an S6 with my own hand, but i can saw that, that thing fits not good on palm, just a bit better on z series to me, but even if i just saw that, what i felt is different that what i saw, it looks like it felt nicer in hand than z series, but actually, their phones those are older than s6 feels good, even better in hand than z series, hands down,

but for material quality, i vote for z series. but what i don't like is just samsung's strategy to attract people with 'their' first ever high quality material phone for their flagship, apple, sony, htc, and some others did that way way back then and people just seems to ignore/didn't take a big deal about it.

so i feel sony has the most underrated design of all manufacturers. and samsung is way too overrated.

  • nick

Yeah, m so willing to upgrade my z3.

  • Sadman Khan

I still see no reason to replace my Z3 Compact. It has been perfect since day one :’) Waiting for an Xperia which will be a SERIOUS upgrade.
