Sony H82XX hits benchmark; reveals Snapdragon 845

by XB on 22nd December 2017

in Rumours

We already knew about the Sony H82XX (H8216, H8266, H8276, H8296) model number, which was revealed in an earlier leak. However, all we knew at the time was that the handset was likely to run a FHD 1080p display.

Now, the Sony H8266 has hit Geekbench which reveals that the device will use the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, along with 4GB RAM and run Android 8.0.0 Oreo. The upcoming flagship handset achieved a single-core score of 2,393, and a multi-core score of 8,300. We’ll bring you more news on Sony’s new 2018 handsets as we have them.

Thanks Kf and Moises!

Still no news on a new Sony tablet. :(

  • LTEstyles

Looks really nice. Let’s hope this is legit.

  • adibuyono

    Still stucked at 4GB RAM..

  • Tablet market is dead! Only hybrid!

  • Nodar Sixarulidze
  • 3_nity

How much RAM you want? 32GB?

  • 3_nity

    Nope!!!

  • 3_nity

    Nope!

  • Skipper

More Gb of Ram less battery. So 4Gb is just enough.

  • Moisés

Same old story. Announced in february, then sold in june.
Also Sony sells battery and cam sensors to them.
    Fair trade…

  • Moisés

Mine has 3GB, even with 60 apps open there are still 700MB free.

  • Moisés

    Z4 still best android tablet..
    Thinking of buying one.

  • Pascualon

    nope!!!!!

  • Pascualon

    nopeeee!

  • Julius Jose Nito

maybe he wants to play crysis 3 on a mobile phone

  • True

  • It looks more like new Moto Z, not Xperia…

  • Talos the Robot

You should have known that manufacturing and mass production are not the same thing.

  • Talos the Robot

    VAIO Z Canvas :P

  • Moisés

New type of stabilization, not regular OIS.
But seems to be physical like OIS.
OIS is bad for moving objects.. Blur free is impossible on phones that have it.

F1.4 is impossible, videos will be too bright, very far from reality.

  • KarFar
  • Moisés

Yes… The ones that will replace XA1 series.

    5.2″ , 5.5″ and 6″. Powered by Snapdragon 630.

  • Night Guy

Fps on the rear? Why not place it the side like xa1 plus.

  • Harry Rogerich Carnecer Relamp

Waiting that phone sony love it

  • Harry Rogerich Carnecer Relamp

    Finally SONY made it

  • a.mubher

Sony’s 3Gb of ram is better than others’ 4Gb if not more.

  • LTEstyles

I’d love to buy one but software support ended with Android N. :(

  • LTEstyles

Yea, I saw that too. I’m still hoping for a change of heart lol.

  • LTEstyles

I’d totally get one, but was hoping for LTE connectivity.

  • comme des garcons
  • Phil Gym

oh it sure looks real. I’d definitely go for the one in the middle

  • sxs

Stop this bs aida, will you? Is it not enough for you get humiliated on esato, now that you are here? Get some life Mr. Insider!

  • sxs

Stop it aida! Have some shame!

  • DBS

This is the XZ1s (or XZ2 if they want to stop the stupid S idea). It’s the MWC phone that ALWAYS shows up, that’s pretty much the same phone as they presented at IFA but with ONE thing changed (a processor, RAM, a design etc. Never anything worth wasting time on).

I think you can forget the 16:9. They apparently already confirmed they’ll be moving to 18:9 as well. And I wouldn’t wait for better cameras either. That’s clearly a lost battle.
Hopefully they’ll move to OLED screens though.

I also don’t get the “new design” crave. I have no issue with their current designs. In fact, if you take out the bezels, you’ll end up with phones that look a hell of a lot better than any other bezelless phone. Specially if Sony goes back to glass.

  • adibuyono

I know actually 3GB is more than enough.. My XZP has no RAM issue so far..
But for competition sake, sony need at least win on paper to attract more customers

  • ymytbb .

    where did you get it?

  • 3_nity

    Nope!!!

  • 3_nity

    Design from hell

  • comme des garcons
  • Moisés

    Concept

  • Moisés

To be edge to edge like XA.

Sides of XA1+ are a bit bigger compared to its two siblings.

  • Moisés

    UAprof shows 16:9 screen.

Vertical is about 1920 for full HD, means 16:9.
The 18:9 have more than 2000.

Play Station and Sony Pictures do not do 18:9. Nobody does. Cameras dont record this ratio.
Reason Sony is not into it…
    Sony Mobile follows both…

Mate 10 is an example, still 16:9 and front FPS that Samsung fans miss.

  • Moisés

    Z2 and Z3 were better than S5, One M8, X2 and G3…

    How did story end up?
    Tons of money lost !!!!

  • Moisés

I would not mind android 7.
At least it is better than any new LG tablet..

  • Francis Troy Fabrigas

Not really fair trade. Samsung allows Sony to release their own phone only after Samsung releases their own.
Sony should also just allow Samsung to release their phone after they release their own.

  • comme des garcons

    official

  • DBS

It’s irrelevant if Sony Pictures of PlayStation don’t do 18:9. Most films are actually filmed in 18:9. And are released in anamorphic format (they adapt to the screen). So that argument is out.

And then you have Sony executives clearly saying they’ll bring 18:9 displays in 2018, which is much more meaningful than some random unofficial benchmark of an unreleased phone, benchmark which CAN be fooled.

If Sony insists in 16:9 next year with those bezels, they might as well pack their bags. Because everyone else is offering 2:1 screens, even in the lower end models.

The Mate 10 has a 16:9 display, indeed. Which is why the flagship that’s available in most of the Western world is the Mate 10 Pro which DOESN’T have a 16:9 display but rather the 2:1. The Mate 10 is really only for a select few countries with less ability to pay more for the phones. And they’re both 2017 phones. Huawei will not repeat it next year.

As for the front FPS, everyone who used them misses them, regardless of brand. Because back-mounted FPS is a really retarded idea lol :P

  • comme des garcons
  • skrug

Films are 21:9 aspect ratio not 18:9

  • xXEΠDEЯ ҒЯEΔҜXx

It is not a must to have a big aperture on smartphones, because some photos will be overexposed like on the LG V30, unless Sony’s software is good enough to counter overexposure

  • mountain

I thought they have discontinued that as well

  • Moisés

    Another concept.

I saw this weeks before XZ1 showed up.

  • Moisés

Pictures of XZ Premium were leaked one say before MWC.
Pictures of XZ1 were leaked about one day before IFA.

Of course the new phones will not show up now. Not 2 months before MWC.

All pics on internet are concept.

  • ymytbb .
  • Kokonose Haruka

How come? My XZ has 3GB of RAM, yet even with as few as 5-7 apps like Instagram or Facebook opening the RAM would still be occupied and apps will restart. Is it because of a software-related issue or do I feel like 3GB is just not enough now?

Btw I’m on build 41.3.A.2.24 Oreo

  • ymytbb .
  • jamie evans

Finally it will be unveiled at MWC2018. Boring design…

  • Alvin

Are you sure? I still think that it’s fake

  • Keshav Burtony

    It’s a fake page..

  • Keshav Burtony

4GB is enough..If Android was well optimised then it would have made plenty use of that 4GB ram..

  • akhilesh gupta

Still use Z2 and it’s been almost 3 years and works like charm. Only with 3gb RAM.
Just increasing the ram size is not a wise decision to me at least. The companies like oneplus doesn’t understand software capabilities so they play only with hardware.

  • washinma2424

Yes from here on out, well at least until Sony’s deal with Qualcomm runs out all Xperia phones will use SD processors. Thank you that is all. LOL :)

  • Prince Mensah

I know the difference my friend but news that was spreading was that Samsung had first dibs and even LG couldn’t have access to them

  • Biancoceleste

Very impressive but real world performance is what matters and Sony usually is excellent there.

  • Biancoceleste

I hope it’s fake, that looks horrid!

  • Biancoceleste

I thought the same circa 2014 then after getting the Z4 tablet I changed my mind. There is still a market (albeit niche) for extremely premium tablets like that. Only issue is that they’re normally way too expensive.

  • jonathan

it’s an iphone concept i saw it years ago

  • jonathan
  • deekbee

No, it isn’t. Your claim would be believable if Sony had shipped devices with a completely different operating system.

  • a.mubher

It is believable because there are a lot of evidence and tests out there. Look them up. The heavily customized skins of most companies come at a cost
