  • Peter Karimi

Just updated my X Dual. Will post any issues or improvements and new features i find. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/94723c9d4c726716559946525903a7635b284d331f8adba5d459e06e288c674c.png

  • Jon

Is there the option ‘correction for distortion’ in the camera setting like in the xz1 series?

  • Asx

This update include January 2018 security update?

  • Peter Karimi
  • Peter Karimi

Nope, I can’t seem to find that option in the camera settings. I guess we won’t be getting that feature.

  • Jon

Oh this is sad. Thank you

  • KzX

Does it have Pixel nav bar?

  • Fred Adzieren

Double tap to wake / sleep feature, is it still there? Can we move apps to sd card on Android Oreo? Thanks.

  • Peter Karimi
  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)

Are you able to get PIP to work in Your Xperia X?

  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)

That option is specific to XZ1 series as that was XZ1 specific issue; I don’t think it’s present in Xperia X. Is it?

  • Peter Karimi

Yeah, tested that with google maps, works nicely.

  • Peter Karimi

Nah, i think its reserved for the current flagships.

  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)

What are the step to get PIP to work? mine seems to be not working although App settings having PIP option present :S

  • Peter Karimi

Currently not all apps support PIP, but to use it on Google maps, just set or activate navigation to a location of choice and tap the home button there after, the app should activate PIP.

  • Pantelis Papakostas

    xperia xa1 dual sim and oreo, when is it gonna be out;

  • Shakeel Mohammed

Anyone having issues with their xz after Oreo update mines been lagging heating etc

  • Nico Bremmer
  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)

Thanks, working on Navigation screen but not working on YouTube videos :(

  • Ali Bashir

Lol, why would they complain basically? Some flagships of another brands didn’t even get the Oreo until now.

  • Enzo Z

is still there the “double tap to wake up” feature? thanks

  • Ten
  • Ten

    Yes it is

  • Enzo Z

    wonderful, thank you very much

  • Enzo Z

someone replied to me about the double tap to wake feature, it will still be there!

  • Hey, I’ve used your screenshots in this blog post and linked your Disqus as a source, I hope that’s okay for you! https://www.smartdroid.de/sony-xperia-x-und-x-compact-update-auf-android-8-0-oreo-wird-ausgerollt/

  • Coz that’s how people “works” – as Queen sang: “I want it all, and I want it now”…

  • Actman

It only took approximately 6 to 7 seconds for my X Compact to boot up. The brightness level appears very convincing too. You’ll get a new Xperia Home version along! Very nice job!

Cons – No new clock widget, No new camera UI, volume level is still below expectations performance (you won’t get anything near to Z5 Compact’s experience) and unfortunately this update comes with past month’s patches which means Spectre and Meltdown issue has not fixed!

  • Sony is the my favorite smartphone brand. Thanks for the Android 8 Oreo update. It is amazing!

  • SAM

    Available in India?

  • Peter Karimi

    Hey, no problem.

  • Ten

    completely okay. Thanks :)

  • Ever Notme

getting Spectre and Meltdown update prob will slow your phone , i dont even want that , no1 will waste so much time and resources to exploit that on your phone or on any regular ppl phones unless you are a VIP or something.

  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)

NVM, YouTube isn’t supported; YouTube Red has support. :)

  • Actman

Well you could choose to skip that update if Xperia launches that patch level!

  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)

    Yes!

  • Ever Notme

u cant skip it but u have to stop with any future updates from this point , i only said that its an update which will only slow ure phone and it wont be very useful for normal users in general as Spectre and Meltdown vulns cant be exploited very easy at this point and some1 has to target specific your device and spend time and resources to have any success getting access to infos from your phone.

  • jose van gaal

is there game mode in xperia action?

  • Moisés

Phone Arena says Burst and Predective Capture are included.

  • Jozef Cmar
  • Night Guy

    Lol but not for xzs?

  • Reigo Liiv

    Can someone confirm?

  • Fred Adzieren

Thanks Enzo. Just updated mine & yes it’s still there. Great job Sony!

  • Didn’t 8.1 come out two months ago?

  • Gilang Pratama

kok saya belum dapat ya mas, padahal sama tipe dan merk nya

  • Kwstakhs

@Actman, when you talk about volume levels, you meanmtge volumes when your earphones are plugged in? Cause ever since I left the Android 7.0 and moved to 7.1 the volume is really a pain in the ass. It’s really really low, and that’s the reason I’ve been waiting for Oreo. If it doesn’t fix it, I might go back to Android 7.0and stay with it forever.

  • Actman

No. I mean both of those stereo speakers. Not the volume when pluggin in.

  • Actman

I can reaffirm it’s none! If Phone Arena did mentioned it, mind to ask them as well on how getting onto it?

  • Actman

    Yes it does!

  • Lasp94

    Does it support Treble?

  • Richard Brutski

I want to do a clean install. How would you guys go about doing that?

  • Muhammad Ibrar

maybe for x compact only since it has a slightly better camera

  • Reigo Liiv

    Let’s hope it’s this way.

  • coach

do a factory reset before or after installing the update. Make sure to back up everything on your sd card since that doesn’t get wiped during a factory reset

  • Richard Brutski

Are you sure thatst the best way to do it? Back to android 6 then update back up to 8? I want to do it like a clean install of windows. But you can’t boot a phone off of a USB lol

  • jurijudovc

    where’d you get it?

  • Actman

    Yea I’m using XC.

  • Kwstakhs

@actman, oh ok… I haven’t heard Z5 compact’s sprakers so I cant say much about it… But has the volume on the headphone jack been increased at all?

  • Piotrek

    No :/

  • Vyenmorg

I dont know about u guys but in my Xperia Xc i have a serious problem in the album app. When i try to zoom in a pic, it takes several seconds to show the pic. I read in other forums that some XZ users have the same problem. Hope it will be fixed in this update

  • Pasquale Mignogna

Sony massaging app is included in oreo for X Compact? Thanks

  • 叶畅

Lol x performance hk version has still not received oreo update

  • coach

Doing a factory reset doesn’t take you back to the ROM that your phone came with, it just reinstalls the ROM that you already have installed, reseting the internal storage partitions. Or I’m might be completly on the wrong because I’ve been using custom ROMs for 2 years now and that’s how I do a clean install (doing a factory reset before installing a new ROM)

  • Javier

Llegará Android Oreo al Xperia Z3+ plus?

  • Raymond De Guzman

Not using X Compact but I guess it won’t be replaced by Android Messages in this update and the stock Messaging app will remain just like in Xperia XZ.

  • shumayal

Yes. Finally I will no more comment here as long for oreo. My life is complete. Alhamdulillah

  • Ever Notme

there is a bug not sure if any1 else have it , on the front of the phone where the proximity and light sensors are something turns red (like a led)when i unlock my phone (probably the light sensor) and it wasnt happening before the update.

  • PRATHAMESH GOVEKAR (PPG)
  • Okarin Titor

Coba lewat PC pake Xperia Companion.

  • Noboru Wataiya

I am still waiting for the update (usually I get it two or three weeks after it’s mentioned here).
One question until then: is there “Ambient Display” option enabled?

  • Vova Burkovskiy

This update sent my phone Xperia X compact to bootloop, how do i fix that now?

  • Ever Notme

well if i remember right it was there in 7.1 too (thow i think it didnt work too well), but i never noticed that light before, used to watch some youtube or something before sleeping in the dark , now after update i just see it and its kinda annoying , if i turn Ambient off the light goes off (or if my screen is off)

  • Ever Notme

i updated with Flashtool , DE version. // yes with “Ambient Display” on it stays on without it turns off but i never noticed this in 7.1.

  • Noboru Wataiya

Is there “double-tap to check” or “lift to check” options present?

  • Ever Notme

    yes , all there.

  • Ever Notme

    flash with flashtool

  • Anta

A factory reset doesn’t touch the operating system, it just wipes all user data. If you want a clean reinstall of the operating system, you can do a “Software Repair” using Xperia Companion.

  • Enzo Z

i’ve tried yesterday with flashtool, but i didn’t succeed. Can you please tell me how did you do it, or send me a link to the right procedure? Obviously i’m interested in the procedure which doesn’t erase my personal data. Thank you

  • Nafnaf84

Ha! Thanks for the info, was waiting for this kind of feedback as it already took more time to show properly a photo with Nougat then before with Marshmallow… it has been improved a little with another update (but not as fast as before) and it is still already enough annoying (even with 8 MP pictures) so I have no hope… :/

  • ThunderStruck3

What region is your dual in? Still waiting for mine.

  • Peter Karimi

    Middle-East & Africa bro

  • dara
  • Noboru Wataiya

There is nothing wrong with your device. Software updates are released at different times depending on the operator, market, region or country. In Eastern Europe with Vodafone as operator, I am receiving Sony updates with 2-3 weeks delay. So, you have to wait a little bit (or to manually flash it through flashtool).

  • Paolo Leoni

because the rollout is come but not for all device. We must wait that rollout is completed. My device is like your.

  • dara

can u discuss me how to use flashtool?

  • Vova Burkovskiy

That’s what I did, all data is gone, nice update

  • Ryan Draper

What countries has the update on live in? Was wondering when it’ll hit the UK?

  • Samuel Tan

Just got the update yesterday and these are two things I noticed from my X Compact.
    1) boot up load time has been shorter
    2) performance is slightly choppier than Nougat
Overall, the experience has been great, love the new updated interface especially.

  • Mateus B. Cassiano

It does have the same clock widget from XZ/XZ1, but you have to add it to the home screen manually. The one added by default keeps the design from Marshmallow era…

  • Actman

How? Can you give me a proper guidance for this? How to add it manually?

  • Mateus B. Cassiano

Just hold in an empty space on the home screen and browse to the widgets. There’ll be a “Sony Clock 2” widget which matches the design of XZ/XZ1…

  • Actman

Would you kindly show me the picture of it? I don’t see any clock widget that matches the XZ1 Series on the lock screen. It contains only 3 types which are old enough! Precisely this type of Clock widget I meant: https://ibb.co/mX2Akc

  • Mahesh Shan

I dont see the new dailer app i mean the new ui.

  • Paolo Leoni

    It’s arrived in Italy!

  • Nazım Işık

never update a phone from ota, always update with flashtool.

  • Noboru Wataiya

What do you mean by “slightly choppier”? E.g. are there any stutters?

  • Enzo Z

  • cingolat

no, it’s not!!! no x compact nor x

  • Enzo Z

non è brandizzato, l’ho sbrandizzato io.. mi sa che però avendo messo il fw australiano, devo attendere i tempi australiani… dannazione

  • cingolat

it seems to be out only for arabic and cyrillic customization …… hope in the next days will be out also for some European region

  • Mateus B. Cassiano

Ah, you’re talking about the lock screen, I was referring to the home screen. You can add the new clock widget to the home screen only, on the lock screen we’re stuck with the Marshmallow design…

  • Actman

No worries mate. I thought we had a better solution here! Anyway thank you for the heads up!

  • Actman

Don’t expect anything new from Sony be it a major or minor update.

  • cingolat

flash customized germany with flashtool, I’m sure it’s the next customization update

  • Richard Brutski

Final (stupid?) question. Everything is backed up, should i factory reset and then do the “software Repair”, or just software repair. It seems like software repair takes care of both.

  • Anta

Software Repair takes care of both.

  • Carl Emefo

Yeah, it does. You’ll have to make sure your region is supported for Google Assistant though to get the ring round the circle home button.

  • Ever Notme

    93-94000 points in antutu v7

  • Jerry Berglund

Nothing yet. Why have Sony left us? lol. We were always among the first to get updates before, and now we are not. :-(

  • Khalid Noreddine

the looow volume and you have to wait 8 seconde to view a foto in zoom, the 2 big problems still her with oreo ,disappointed -__-

  • De Las Lajas Caupo

Hi, Please how is the batery performance?

  • Roman Matys

Exactly. I totally agree with you. People can’t understand they’re not target for hackers if they are ordinary.

  • katakulli

They somehow fixed the long waiting time (a few seconds min) when reviewing photos in camera app. Now it’s near instant. Snap photo – tap on thumbnail to review – bam, it’s there. Nice.

  • méz geri
  • bartek010

Hello. Did you have any problems with flashtool update? I cannot flash it because it says that there is no flashing script which is mandatory.

  • Bee Ant

Glad they still keep the tap to wake functionality :)

  • Andrea

Nothing in Italy yet, or at least for me — I’m here with an Xperia X F5121.

  • Andrea

A me ancora non è arrivato nulla. Xperia X F5121, liscio senza modifiche di alcun genere.

  • imag1

where is the condition to get this ?
is not redy for my phone..

  • Tom Barud

Strange… Xpericheck.com and xperifirm say the update is out for Xperia X customized gr, however there is no update available…

  • Alex

    Still nothing on O2 UK

  • Enzo Z

your ftf was the only one i was able to flash on my f5121 device, thank you very very much!!

By the way, i discovered a new thing: on the cell signal, it’s not “4g” anymore, now it says “lte”… i don’t know if i like it or not

  • Ryszard Lubicz

Still nothing in UK on stock firmware. Last update was patch level in December. As far as I know mobiles bought on German Amazon are also waiting.

  • Stefanus Paulus

And my Xperia XZ is still on Nougat for no reason.

  • Maria Claudino

if I install this then I lose the warranty?

  • Amer Asmar

If you installed it from the settings – software update , and you can see that there is new update is available, in this case you will not lose any warranty . it is Sony who send the updates for the users

  • Maria Claudino

    thank you!

  • Maria Claudino

why my xperia x dual phone still does not appear to download android 8?

  • ra3al

For the lock screen – did you try to tap and hold on the clock there? If you do this on a XZ1, you can choose between 3 digital and 1 analog clock styles for the lock screen clock. I assume it’s the same on the X.
