Google has officially announced its latest version of Android at Google I/O. Ice Cream Sandwich will bring together Gingerbread (for smartphones) and Honeycomb (for tablets) as one operating system that will scale across phones and tablets alike.
This means that smartphones will get the holographic UI seen in Honeycomb, along with the new launcher, richer widgets and more multitasking. Android Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t due to launch until the fourth quarter, but let’s hope that when it does arrive Sony Ericsson keeps it promise and updates all of the latest Xperia models to this latest Android version.
