Xperia ray Android 2.3.4Okay, we’re nearly reaching a full suite of 2011 Xperia phones that have received the update. The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray Android 2.3.4 update is being released, which follows on from the Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo. The Xperia mini family are the last two current handsets that are yet to be updated (the Xperia active and Xperia pro will launch with this latest update as far as we know in the next month).

As you’re probably all too aware by now the Android 2.3.4 firmware update brings video Google Chat, a new 3D panorama camera feature, a swipe text input system, screen capture and further enhancements to Facebook inside Xperia. Under the Privacy settings we also noticed a new backup function called ‘Back up my data’. When enabled this function allows you to backup application data, Wi-Fi passwords and other settings to the Google servers i.e. in the cloud. Besides this is an ‘Automatic restore’ facility that allows all app data to be automatically restored when reinstalled again. Sounds like a very worthwhile function.
