Two big games have just hit the Android Market. The first is Rockstar’s eagerly awaited Grand Theft Auto III 10 Year Anniversary Edition. Rockstar didn’t initially include the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY in its list of compatible devices for GTA III, but it does work and thankfully so do the controls (including the touchpads). There is no way to reassign hardware buttons right now, but most importantly the game is playable. Most users are also saying that the performance is good with little slow down.
Another hit game has also launched earlier than expected, Sonic CD was expected to land in early 2012 but in a surprise move it has launched early. There seem to be some issues downloading the game from the Android Market, which Sega says they are working on. Sonic CD is not Xperia PLAY optimised right now but is expected to be in a future update. Sonic CD will set you back £1.29, whilst GTA III is £3.23 on the Android Market. See the GTA III launch trailer below including the latest Xperia PLAY promo video involving a dancing kid.
Update: It appears that Sonic CD is indeed Xperia PLAY optimised, see the comments below for further details.
