Recently we came across a new model number the Sony ST21i2 that according to the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body will be called the Xperia Tipo Dual. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that therefore we expected the Sony ST21i codenamed ‘Tapioca’ would be called the Xperia Tipo. Well the same Indonesian Postel site has confirmed this will be the case.
The only difference between the two handsets is that the Xperia Tipo Dual will have dual-sim support and we expect both models to be targeted towards emerging markets. The Xperia Tipo has already been extensively previewed here. The handset will have a 3.2-inch (320 x 480) display, Qualcomm MSM7227 800MHz processor with Adreno 200 GPU, 512MB RAM, 3MP camera with no LED flash shooting video at VGA resolution (640 x 480). It will come with a 1450mAh battery and will launch with Android 4.0 ICS.
