The Sony Xperia Z has already been rooted thanks to DooMLoRD over at xda-developers. It was achieved by modifying Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root for the Nexus 4. DooMLoRD managed to root the device remotely as he doesn’t own the Xperia Z just yet, however Xperia Z owners of both C6602 (HSPA+) and C6603 (LTE) handsets have confirmed it works. An unlocked bootloader is a pre-requisite, but hopefully by the time the handset sees a wider release there’ll be a solution for those with locked bootloaders too.
