A new Android 4.2.2 firmware version with build number 10.3.1.A.0.244 is currently rolling out to Sony Xperia Z (C660X) and Xperia ZL (C650X) owners. The firmware is not listed on the PTCRB website, but we had an idea that an update was on its way after an earlier build (version 10.3.1.A.0.236) appeared on a developer device recently. We don’t know what changes the update brings, so if you’ve downloaded it, do let us know in the comments below.
Update: DooMLoRD from xda-developers has got in touch to let users know not to flash this latest update directly or you will lose root. Sony has patched the perf_event exploit in the newer kernel source.
@XperiaBlog word of advice rooted users SHOULD NOT FLASH THIS DIRECTLY. use OTA RootKeeper or something. perf_event root exploit is patched.
