We were quite hopeful when Sony announced the DK30 Magnetic Charging Dock that it would work not only for the Xperia Z Ultra, but also future flagship handsets. Alas, it is not to be, as Sony has the DK31 Magnetic Charging Dock designed specifically for the Xperia Z1.
It works the same as the previous dock allowing users to use the magnetic connector to easily connect with the charging dock. Like the DK30, the DK31 dock includes interchangeable inserts which you can use depending on whether your Xperia Z1 is used with a case or not. Let’s hope Sony creates a dock in the future that has a longer shelf -life than for just one phone, or perhaps we’ll see the company adopt wireless charging in the future. Time will tell.
