Super slow-mo video (480fps FHD) demoed using Sony IMX220 sensor

timthumbOne of the highlights from MediaTek’s new MT6795 chip launch was a headline grabbing 480fps Full HD video capture, enabling playback at 1/16 speed. If manufacturers want to take advantage of this feature then they will need to incorporate the Sony IMX220, 20.7MP sensor into their hardware. The sensor is used to capture the video which is then passed through MediaTek’s image processing pipeline, to ensure each processed frame has excellent clarity and detail. We have included another video demo below which looks at Sony’s image processing versus MediaTek’s image processing, particular in HDR photos. The demo seems to be a bit unfair to us, pitting the ageing Xperia ZL against the MediaTek reference design smartphone. Anyway, take a look and let us know what you think in the comments below.
