Sony Mobile may have talked about a more streamlined product portfolio going forward, but five new model numbers have just been unveiled by the Indonesian Postel Regulatory site. This includes the Sony E6833 – the closest previous handset to this model was the Xperia Z Ultra (C68XX).
Then there is the Sony E6683 – could this be the international variant of the Xperia Z4 (E65XX) that was announced in Japan yesterday? We could see a broadly similarly-specced handset but with a higher 2K resolution display perhaps. Another potential high end handset is the Sony E5803, which may be a ‘Z4 Compact’ given the numbering. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact had model number D58XX.
Then there are two mid-range models including the Sony E5663, we haven’t seen this model number before. Then there is the Sony E5563 – previous handsets that used this model number include the Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503) and Xperia ZR (C55XX). It is interesting to see so many model numbers being revealed at once, it looks like these handsets will see us out to the end of 2015.
