Xperia X Performance Black GroupThe Sony Xperia X Performance (F8131) and Xperia X Performance Dual (F8132) sit atop the Xperia X family tree. The handset is largely the same as the Xperia X, but includes a number of key differences that give it a premium positioning.

First of all, the Xperia X Performance is the only handset in the range that is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. Secondly, it is armed with a much beefier chipset in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. Thirdly, the handset has a brushed metal (or hairline) finish on the Graphite Black and White variants.

Other minor differences include a slightly larger battery at 2700mAh (versus 2620mAh for the Xperia X) and LTE Cat 9 support for faster downloads (versus Cat 6 for the Xperia X). These extra features mean that the Xperia X Performance is heavier than the Xperia X (165g vs 153g respectively) and thicker (8.7mm vs 7.9mm).

Apart from that, the feature set is the same as the Xperia X (see our earlier post here). It comes with a 5-inch 1080p display, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage (no 64GB option), a 23MP Exmor RS rear camera with predictive hybrid autofocus and 13MP front-facing Exmor RS camera.

The Xperia X Performance will launch in summer 2016, in four colours (White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold). No pricing has been announced at this stage. The Xperia X Performance will be available in both Single and Dual SIM variants.
