Is this the beginning of the end? Sony Mobile could be about to close their operations in a number of regions, according to a tweet from Evan Blass (@evleaks). Evan says that Sony Mobile will shut down its “operations and offices” in Middle East, Africa and Turkey by October.
If true, this will be a massive blow to fans in the region – we know that there a number of passionate and loyal fans across these countries. We have seen Sony Mobile retrench from other regions in the past, so this could be another move by Sony to refocus its efforts on Japan and Europe. We just hope that if this news turns out to be true, it doesn’t mark the beginning of the end of Sony’s mobile journey.
Bad news for Sony Mobile fans in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa: I'm hearing that the company will "shut down its operations and offices" in the region by October.

Update: Sony has pretty much confirmed that this is likely to happen, in a statement given to Android Authority.
“As part of our ongoing measures to drive profitable growth, we are carefully monitoring the market situation and reviewing our business feasibility in Middle East, Africa and Turkey.”
Thanks mrninko!
