Rumoured price list, launch dates for entire 2012 Sony smartphone portfolio

in Rumours, Xperia T

mystery-phoneGSMArena has been sent an interesting list that apparently shows Sony Mobile’s entire 2012 portfolio, including codenames, launch dates and expected pricing. The leak comes from a Sony’s sales report in India, with all prices in INR, which we’ve converted into Euros, Dollars and Sterling below.

The list includes many codenames that we have not heard of yet, such as what is likely to be the true 2012 Sony Mobile flagship ‘Mint’ and the mid-range ‘Olive’ and ‘Atlas’. Other lower-end models include the ‘Lotus’, ‘AFFM’. All models will apparently run the Android OS.

We have previously reported on the LT22i Nypon, MT27i Pepper and ST25i Kumquat. If the April 2012 launch date is correct for these models, then they are probably dead certs for a MWC showing in Barcelona next month. Some models are tagged with ‘I at the end. We can’t say for sure, but we would say that these models will be destined for an international/global release. Therefore the international models would be the three aforementioned models (Nypon, Pepper, Kumquat) and the Mint, Olive and Atlas.

We expect Mint to be the 2012 flagship, given that it is the most expensive at €562, with Hayabusa possibly a Japan or US exclusive. Both Mint and Atlas are down for a September 2012 release. We also reported on LT29i Hayabusa earlier this month. At first we thought this may be the Xperia ion, but that wasn’t to be. We were told this handset will have a 4.55-inch display have a similar appearance to the Xperia arc but with the internal spec-sheet of the Xperia S.

We have posted on ST21i Tapioca in the past, but strangely there are two models listed in the table – Tapioca and Tapioca_DS. Our best guess is that both models will be for emerging markets and one model (Tapioca_DS) will have Dual-SIM capability. Last month we was told that Tapioca will have a 800MHz processor, 3.2-inch (320 x 480) display, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM and a 3.2MP camera.

Thanks to all that sent this in!

  • The 2011 portfolio was already big, but looks like they will have as much phones as the big phone manufacturers (Samsung, HTC) now. Sony is investing a lot.

  • Jenge Engelbrecht

Sony Erricson has always been big but dedicated

Looking at the price list kinda makes me whana just skip the Xperia S and wait for the Hayabusa~

Then again the Mimt 1 huh. Its release date’s on my birthday XD

  • Sojvarghese

    I need mint

  • Assfg

Sony,  Please give us a phone with a great camera (I do not mean a phone with many megapixels, but with bigger sensor then tiny 1/3.2)

  • Howarddelinto

my guess is that hayabusa is the xperia play II. about kumquat, this one is the succesor of xperia ray.

and for a dual core phone, kumquat has a excelent price.

the atlas should be a “kumquat” qwerty phone, lotus a xperia active like and AFFM the walkman phone

about mint, my guess is a “hayabusa” Pro

  • I think that the phones have gotten a bit too big for guy’s pockets (unless they have crush proof cases/screens) or a device capable shirt/jacket like those from ScotteVest. I’m really happy that the ION still has an upgradeable internal SD storage slot (shown in a video at CES), as well as 1G ram and 16G storage even if the battery can’t be removed (which was important if you had a phone’s OS stuck and needed to shut it down). I might consider it when my contract’s out in October.

Do your maths right. Pound is expensive than Euro. You have calculated other way round

  • Asad Mulla

    717 USD = 466 GBP
    562 Euros = 468 GBP

  • xyz

The Ion and S have f/2.4 cameras

  • Assfg

    SENSOR SIZE IS 1/3.2

I hope they get to differentiate the phones enough while keeping a high average quality. The 2011 portfolio covered lot of niches with powerful phones: the entry-level Mini, Mini Pro and LiveWW were supposed to be faring against crap like the HTC Explorer/Pico, Galaxy Y and LG Optimus Hub; the design-oriented Xperia Ray is basically unmatched by the boring slab phones of this year, except the Nokia Lumia 800; and only the Xperia Active saw a competitor on the Defy+; however, the portfolio lacked some punch for the upper range (Arc, Play) when compared with the LG Optimus 2x, the Atrix and the GalaxyS2.

I just hope they don’t all have sealed batteries, but I’m afraid they’ll leave that for the low range.

    Good spot – now fixed!

  • lzoz

Mint has to be the Xperia S!

  • Somebody

With a release date of September 12? I think it will be like Arc S was in 2011… so it would be “Xperia S S” xD

  • Somebody

Sry “Sep-12” means “2012 September” and not “September 12″…  Nevermind, it’s still September :)

  • Asad Mulla

In light of the changes do we still think its the flagship? xperia S and Mint cost roughly the same price?

  • tymodmyt

How can xperia ray succesor be cheaper that the xperia ray itself?

  • Wfaddah

Sounds like the company is coming to its senses when it comes to prices. Hope the 700 dollar phone is worth it.

wats the date for xperia s guys????? n which category does it fall in?

I don’t think anyone should take this as gospel.  The roadmap could change and lots of prototypes never make it to market.

  • Ciara Harris

    OMG!  “Mint I”

    can’t wait!

  • I think the hayabusa is ION beacuse of the price for one. Running gingerbread, 4.55″, snapdragon S3 1.5 ghz, 12 mp camera. The $700 one is the mint or the experia GX running ICS, 4.6″, snapdragon S4 1.5 ghz, 13 mp camera since the Experia S is  $590 and the ION will be $632
