Xperia go Yellow sandNew water and dust resistant Xperia phones were announced a couple of days back in the form of the 4.3-inch Xperia acro S and 3.5-inch Xperia go. Both phones are expected to be available in certain markets globally and look like great additions to the ruggedized Android line-up.

We’ve already seen some official promo videos and photos of each device, but if you wanted to see some hands-on media then click through below. Russian site Mobile-Review has an extensive hands-on of both devices along with Taiwanese site ePrice. We’ve attached a few of their pictures from the launch event for these handsets including some videos below. With summer on the horizon we certainly like the fact that we could use the phones on the beach without worrying about sand getting into every nook and cranny!

i want to upgrade my xperia s to xperia acro s!

  • Jesus

Damn. That’s a lot of ports.

  • naathaanS

Why does the arco S still have the Sony Ericsson on the top? Was it developed when it was Sony Ericsson?

  • janus

Best place to buy online fro UK delivery?

  • Probably because it’s a prototype, so they haven’t bothered to rebrand it.
All phones that have and will be released this year will have, at least partially, been developed during the SE-era.

  • EpPart

Sony!! Why aren’t you going to release the Arco S in the Netherlands?!?!?
I want the Acro S or the GX.

  • Gx, but no hdmi

  • Ambroos

No worries, the Acro S is being released in Belgium. Coolblue should be able to sell it.

  • i think you mean change your S for an Arcro S. It’s in no way an upgrade.

  • Ken

It is the Japanese version called arco HD, you can see NTT DoCoMo logo on the back.
Acro S is good device , but It’s better if using snapdragon s4

  • weeeeee8888888888

nice the arco s comes out with android 4.0.4

  • weeeeee8888888888

hope the arco s doesnt have fate same with xperia s with yellow tint issue

  • sufy

How much will the Acro S cost in the UK ?

  • ehOK

Please, Sony, send the Acro S to Canadian carriers, and more than just Rogers!

  • DragonClaw

No. It is indeed an upgrade. The Acro S is strong. Much stronger than the Xperia S. But yea, no upgrade it specs sheet. Thats bad.

  • Coollead

GX has MHL, so it still has HDMI, just through an adapter, like most other new phones.

  • Coollead

Because it was launched over 4 months ago, in Japan. At that time, Sony didn’t have approval to change their name in Japan.

  • Coollead

There’s no upgrade to specs because the phones were announced/launched simultaneously in January.

  • there’s a red Xperia ION and named Xperia ION HSPA version.

  • naathaanS

arco S was launched over 4 months ago? You mean arco HD?

  • i’m gamer

  • Upgrade from Xperia S.. so Early..?? u must be Rich..!! ;)

  • I really think xperiablog should station some reporter in japan or find some reporter from japan so that we all get a proper xperiablog preview of everything exclusive to japan regarding xperia.
I really feel stupid when I listen to videos of other languages posted by xperiablog :P

  • xperiablog rocks!

  • Fell in love with Xperia Acro S almost instantanealy.

  • why don’t u buy acro s with HD resolution?

  • lucks

if the battery is built in, means never try to root and play with them, once you make mistake and it’s boot loop nothing we can do but wait until the battery empty, lol a lot of thing can be happen, but i choose acro s, ip57 is enough

  • Tino

Why is on the pictures of Sony Xperia acro S phone with name Sony Ericsson?

  • In this five years of using Sony (Ericcson) phones, I notice that Sony is always behind competition. And I know now: a sign that Sony is making great products it will be when Apple sue Sony (as it did with Samsung, HTC, Motorola) for patents or any other reasons… :) But until then… My disapppointing Xperia arc it will be the last Sony phone I use; with the crack in the housing and the lack of support for this in my country, with the easily to scratch screen and housing, althought I`m using a good cover case to protect it, with Wi-Fi and the notification led not working after ICS update, with not keeping my custom settings for ringtones, with my blurring photos because Exmor R & the flashlight are useless etc. And we are talking about an (ex-)flagship, isn`t it?… I wanted to see, just for once, that the Sony did the best phone in the market for one year, but I`m getting old and i don`t have patience anymore. Maybe acro S it will be what I desired for, but I can`t lose money for another disappointement, I`m too poor for that (I gain less than 400 euros / month)… So this is a farwell and maybe we will meet again… Goodluck, Sony!

Salut Bogdan Maxim. Te intreb acum ce telefon folosesti, dupa 4 ani de la Xperia arc si cat de multumit esti?

  • Bogdan Maxim

Salut!
