in Rumours, Xperia L series, Xperia SP

Sony Mobile’s baffling naming convention continues. Indonesia’s Postel Telecom site which so far has a 100% record in unveiling the marketing names for Sony Xperia handsets is at it again. It has revealed that the Sony C530X (C5302, C5303, C5306) ‘Huashan’ will come to the market as the Sony Xperia SP.

This perhaps highlights that it will be truly be another phone in the NXT series with a transparent bar, display size similar to the Xperia S and aluminium chassis (hence the ‘S’ and ‘P’ in the name). The Xperia SP will run the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T chipset with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 320 graphics. It will also come with a 720p display.

Then we have the lower-end Sony C210X (C2104, C2105), which will be called the Sony Xperia L. The Xperia L is expected to run a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon chipset (either the MSM8227 or MSM8627) with Adreno 305 graphics. It will also have a FWVGA resolution (480 x 854) display with virtual buttons and run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
