Xperia S/SL firmware build 6.2.B.1.96 gets certified [Update]

by XB on 13th August 2013

in Firmware, Xperia S

Xperia S_certifiedSony Mobile has today certified firmware version 6.2.B.1.96 for the Xperia S (LT26i) and Xperia SL (LT26ii). This is the same build number, from which a screenshot recently leaked. The fact that it has been certified today could mean it ends up rolling out by the end of this month.

The update is said to bring a number of bug fixes (1080p video recording, volume up bug, 2G data issues) amongst other improvements. You will also be able to long press the home button to activate Google Now. We’ll bring you more news once the update starts seeding.

Update: The firmware has also been certified for the Sony Xperia acro S.

  • Ion user

Xperia Ion usually get certified a week later.

  • Prateek Bhanushali

HAppy B’day both of you ;)

  • Utsav Shah

sometimes it gets certified but is not released.
my point was that though it’s of the same group it’s always considered as from a different platform.

  • naderzz

    what about acro s??

  • Vitali

this update will be the last? i mean bug fixes/build update

  • ish

This is great news even though it should have already been released by now considering how serious the bugs are. Sony is still way too slow when it comes to the Xperia S.

  • Norio24

Mine was 4 days ago lol

  • spade

I think the “recent button” will replace the “menu button”, the “menu button” will appear on screen somewhere, just like those xperias with on screen button, well who knows.. Btw the “menu button” isn’t practical anymore, there’s bunch of apps don’t have any functionally with “menu button” :/

  • Uchiha Dare Nial

    *forever an ion*

It is written that it has also been certified for us acro users.

  • ercu

LOW IN CALL VOLUMEEE FIX PLEASEEEEEEEE

  • spade

I still prefer replacing the “menu button”, not to mention i did own Acro S as well, S/SL and Acro S are identical the same phone except for waterproof, i don’t know about S/SL, but my Acro S those capacitive buttons are painful to use, the touch detected area not so close with nav icons, well that’s my imo though :/

  • josesl16

Then, what are you going to do with the menu logo, then? Some people probably don’t like having a menu button pointing to recent tasks. And I don’t know about the Acro S, but it’s superb in the P 8)

  • spade

As long as you know that that button is for recent tasks, well there will be no problem, you don’t have “short term memory lost” do you? If you don’t it should be OK then..

  • spade

Here my TX screenshot for example where the “menu button” will appear on Chrome browser ;)

  • zeeshan

There was an advantage in 4.0.4 that we can copy any text in the browser but when I upgraded to 4.1.2 all dat copying text is gone does the new update have dat advantage
    again

  • Zeeshan

Hey what abt copying text in Brower does that problem is also solved in the firmware 6.2.B.1.96

  • Deki

    Use Google Chrome… :-)

  • cannabis_overdose

camera key doesn’t launch camera anymore…..hmmm hope they fix that too…..!!!!

  • josesl16

“short term memory lost”? whut? I’m just saying that it’s pretty annoying, and many people just don’t like their menu button pointing to recent tasks.

  • ofek

My music and youtube still get stuck every time and its very annoying please someone help me fix that
