Sony may have inadvertently leaked the upcoming international mini version of the Xperia Z1 after the “Xperia Z1s” was spotted on the official Sony Mobile website before being quickly pulled. The screen grab below shows it was there although the link didn’t lead anywhere juicy. The ‘s’ in the Z1s could very well stand for small, it certainly would make the most sense. Hopefully this gives hope that we will see the mini version of the Xperia Z1 launch outside of Japan.
The Sony Xperia Z1 (SO-01F) was announced for NTT DoCoMo in Japan and is expected to launch at the end of the year. It shares all of the main hardware from the Xperia Z1 including the chipset and camera. The main difference over the Xperia Z1 includes the smaller 4.3-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and a 2300mAh embedded battery. All this comes in a chassis measuring 65 mm × 127mm × 9.4mm and weighs 140g. We’ll bring you more details on the Xperia Z1s if anything comes from this.
