Two new Sony Xperia model numbers have been unveiled on the Indonesian Postel website. This includes what is likely to be a flagship D650X (D6503) and mid-range D53XX (D5322 and D5303 ). To give you an idea of positioning, if you look at the corresponding model numbers from 2013, the C650X was the Xperia ZL and the C530X was the Xperia SP.
It will be interesting to see whether Sony will launch two flagships in Spring this year, much like last year, where it had the Xperia Z (C660X) and Xperia ZL (C650X). What this does mean is that we now know of three Xperia handsets that Sony plans to launch globally in 2014 – the Xperia Z1 mini (D5503) as well as the above-mentioned D650X and D53XX. Whether or not we’ll see all three appear at CES 2014 remains to be seen, some may be held back for a MWC2014 unveiling in February. We’ll keep you posted with any further developments.
